Launching with a twin disc clutch... (Mcleod RXT)

I just wanted to share my experience of what i gathered from several discussions into one.

Hopefully this would help someone out that might be new to the Twin Disc clutch upgrade.

I am speaking from my experience using the McLeod RXT Twin Disc setup.

When i first got the clutch i was unaware of how to launch the car. When i was stock i would launch around 2500rpm at the most. So i thought, well this clutch can handle more power so why not take it up to 3500rpm.

Well needless to say it would bog all the time. The clutch was doing its job and gripping so it made feathering very very difficult.

So then i got a little gutsy and brought the RPM up to about 4000rpm. This was netting me a little bit better 60fts around the 1.83-1.78 range. Which was a big jump for me. So i looked around and heard of a bunch of people saying these clutches like RPM. So i was always cautious being i had almost a full stock driveline and suspension. Didnt wanna break anyting.

But i figured you gotta take a risk to seek a reward, so i said screw it... Brought my RPM to 5000rpm. and swiftly started letting the clutch out.

To my surprise it felt like a stock clutch again and i basically held the RPM at ~5000rpm and was able to really modulate the clutch much better this time.

So to say the least, dont be afraid to bring the RPM with a twin disc clutch and use the clutch pedal to control the launch vs the gas pedal. It was so much easier and i am confident now that i can pull consistant low 1.7's and soon 1.6's with this setup.

So hopefully this helps someone struggling with the launch that might have a similiar clutch setup. Dont be afraid to give it RPM's

I have nitto NT05r's 305/45/18 - on a zo6 rim

They should call it the slipper clutch because it's impressive how long you can slip it during your passes.

haha, yeah its amazing. If i did that on a stuck clutch... i dont know if i would be able to make it home.

But with this one it actually feels better and stronger after i slip it. The ceramic on them like the heat.

Ceramic clutches definitely like the heat, they will crystalize and make a squealing sound if you don't get them hot every so often. I had a south bend DD in my 07 Cummins that I had to heat up every 4-5 days of street driving.

Agreed that I needed to launch a little higher once I put the RXT in.

Stock clutch was around 3500rpms. RXT likes it better around 4800rpms. (1.56 60' on Hoosier slicks)
