And to the OP: 1) plasti-dip or paint them. Can also buy pre-painted ones from a vendor 2) fishing line and Goo-Gone, very easy to remove 3) would need to paint them with high-temp paint. If done properly it won't fade. 4) You can buy pre-painted ones from vendors. I know tjk_art (is his username) sells carbon fiber bowties - might want to hit him up 5) use fishing line and Goo-Gone to remove the chrome lettering. Can buy matte/gloss black lettering from Emblem Pros (one of the forum sponsors) |

The best way to remove emblems is fishing line or dental floss and goo gone.....the people that have a tough time are just being impatient. LET THE GOO GONE DO IT'S WORK..Trickle it over the emblem and then WAIT 30 MIN. The fishing line will cut thru it like it's butter. Sometimes if it's a small emblem, I can just pull it off.

Goo gone, fishing line or plastic putty knife and blow dryer, etc to remove rear bowtie. Using the right high temp paint or get the powdercoated , the exhaust tips should hold up, get double walled, and they dont get all that hot. You can paint or plasti dip the front bow tie yourself. Just pull it off, sand, prime, paint, clear, etc. People either plasti dip, or buy new letters on the fender. |

BlackmambaZL1. I called my local custom exhaust shop on that very question. I figured black caliper or header spray paint. Shop told me they use BBQ spray paint. Cost like seven/eight bucks tops. Can take heat temps up to 1,800 way more than enough. I'll be removing my rear bumper to really be able to get the exhaust tips and the backside of the mufflers. They show too much from behind. The BBQ spray paint is a flat black, perfect for the look I want. Also just used it on my Strut Tower Brace Brackets. Going to use a different color on the bar itself. Hope this helps.

Wow.. You guys are awesome thanks! I have never been the type of guy to work on my car, I'm handy and more than competent with tools, just never had a ride I cared about enough to do something to. Can't wait to get home in a couple weeks and do some of these, thanks again! I will post pics as I go!

Today we Blackened the Lower Rear Fascia. After/during, in-between coats of Plasti-dip, my fanatical husband, get this, yesterday three coats of sealer and let the third coat bond overnight. Today during the blackening of the lower rear fascia he did two coats of advanced finish polish followed by three coats of carnauba wax. I have to say it looks fantastic! Way better than it did on the dealership lot yesterday.
I think he's really just practicing for when he does some on The Devil's Nightmare. Anyway here's a pic of my new daily driver with the black side moldings and black lower rear fascia. |
