With some items that is very true. Catch cans are one of those where it is definitely true. You can by a cheap catch can (typically $50-100) that is basically an empty can with two fittings. It will catch a little bit of oil but the majority will pass right through. An effective baffled catch can costs more to design and manufacture therefore costs more to buy.

This - Elite got me my can in 4 business days. Ordered on a Sunday and arrived on Thursday. Elite has nice cans!
