I can appreciate a Honda but I would rather drive anything American over anything Japanese. I'm a man of principal.

Which it has.

I don't view Honda as some patron saint of reliability. In recent years the quality of their vehicles has become downright pathetic. Especially material-wise.

Honda lost their way for 15 years or so from a design standpoint. The new generation seems to have helped them find their way back.

Wrong.. The current gen accord seem to be based of the 2000-2001 model, nothing to do with the genesis at all

My thought process is that the company is US owned so the money goes back to the USA. No matter how you cut it, it's till better than buying a foreign car.

I used to think like this, but it seems that today there are more Japanese cars built in America than US manufacturers. It seems logical to think that the money comes back to the US when you buy American but what about all the taxes and money spent by the employees who collect a paycheck by building those Japanese cars? Not bashing your way of thinking, because I was the exact same way. I guess my narrow mindedness has expanded with age. Lol

...I fail to see how stating that the vast majority of automotive journalists saw similarities to Genesis immediately can be "wrong."
