This morning I started out easy -- shifted from first to second somewhere between 15 and 20 mph and no backfire just a nice decel pop. Yesterday it backfired so loud, I thought someone had thrown a firecracker at my car.

I INSTALLED THE ROTO FAB CAI AND INITIALLY GOT A MAF CODE. IT WENT AWAY AFTER A FEW ENGINE ON OFF CYCLES. RUNS GREAT NOW AND I CAN REALLY HEAR THE SUPERCHARGER WHINE. LOW END PERFORMANCE BY THE SEAT OF PANTS SEEMS TO BE MUCH BETTER AND ALL THRU THE RPM RANGE IT SEEMS TO PULL HARDER.HAVE NOT BEEN TO THE TRACK OR A DYNO TO CONFIRM THE DIFFERENCE BUT I AM A HAPPY CAMPER SO FAR!!! HAVE A LOWER PULLEY YET TO INSTALL.

Put the stock intake back on it, if it happens, it has nothing to do with the rotofab, then take it to the dealer, sheesh.

It was loud enough my wife asked if I hit something with car. And see was sitting in the house watching TV.

I wonder what in the heck someone might run over that would sound like a backfire too???

Not exactly a 5 min procedure to go back to the stock intake. I thought I'd ask for some opinions first before going to the effort of returning everything back to stock. Isn't the point of of these forums to share each others knowledge with the Camaro5 community or did I miss something?

The time spent typing about this topic you could have swapped back to the stock intake and gave it a test drive, or did I miss something? My suggestion of swapping back is my feedback, I thought you were looking for feedback about the problem you are having? I hope you find out what is causing the backfire, I meant no harm. Good luck.

Is this arrow pointed towards your intake?

A quick check should reveal if you have it 180 degrees out - could be your problem

I remember this part of the install with the way they have the screw holes placed, you could not plug it in the wrong way. Am I misremembering?

Absolutely correct. By changing the intake you are either going up or down the MAF curve and each car will respond a little differently. The car is going to lean out or run richer (and get worse mileage and pop).

Like they say, you don't HAVE to get a tune but with most intakes you don't HAVE to. By not doing so though, your MAF is not calibrated properly. In fact, you don't know how it is calibrated or what fuel it is demanding at a given mass air.
