I think the weight difference is exaggerated a bit, the GTO is listed at 3725 for the M6, the camaro is 3859, so you have 134 lbs difference. All in all I think the camaro has enough hp to overcome the weight difference, but the overall gearing will keep the GTO very close.

its not that big a weight difference but its large enough to keep them close
