I need some help from the help desk, please. I'm looking into purchasing a used 3200 protorque TC (bought from jre/Ted) from a member on here. The mods he had when he got the TC was a vortec SC and 3.70 gears. I'm going to be adding a comp cam dur: 231 247 lift: 617 624, to my headers and intake. I talked to Ted and he said it would work in my car since its only a weekend car, but he also said it might be a little tight.

What do you all think?

What is the STR of that particular converter?

Guys, correct me if I am wrong here but isn't rule of thumb that a 10 HP gain roughly translates to a tenth off of 1/4 mile times?

Kinda like a loss of 100 lbs. equates to the same thing?

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my next
Track fix.

Also if you are buying a "used" converter it is always a good idea to send it back for a refreshing.

That being said...I would just put a couple extra hundred with it and get a converter and get one that matches your cam profile.

That is correct.

I got into this with others in another thread. To say that you can feel a difference in a .10 improvement in the 1/4 mile is crazy.

.10 is assuming you launch and shift perfectly which rarely happens. You can get better gains from driving lessons and TIRES. Racing in 60 degree weather also helps big time. It's amazing what people think a CAI can do, it's just a small piece of a much bigger picture. I love when people talk about CAI improving times on other people's car but fail to mention the other mods on the car. ALA BJ1. Even the dyno testing is squirrelly because nobody drives with their hood open and a big giant fan blowing on the engine

Zeke I finally ordered some of the connectors. I just ordered housing and pins for the male side of the A/C pressure sensor. That's the one that I'm not sure about. I'm gonna wire up a pigtail and make sure it works with the factory wiring before I go crazy building these cables. If this connector works out, then I just need to find connectors for whatever widebands we end up with, the female side, and a switch.

Well I will say this, when I put my CAI on, the Halltech, it got me into the 12's and it was the only thing I changed. So at least I have my own proof.

If you need some lessons come on down, you could be the next contestant on "Learning how to get the best times out of your 1/4 mile run" Sponsored by KN and the Underhead Cam!!!!!

Hahaha don't forget about my NOTSO supercharger. I do need lessons. I have been going to the track for the past 20 years in 14/15 second cars. One day soon I'm gonna drop a real nice slip on you guys.

I do too. I'll have to find another 5V circuit to take over if these connectors aren't right. Either that or cut/splice, but I'd rather not do that to my car.

So are you gonna log and give Matt a shot at remote tuning your machine? You don't have to use it. I need one to replace the JRE tune I'll lose when I unmarry the SCT handheld. I should have done a better job logging for JRE. I don't think there's much wrong with what I've got, but in hindsight... you can't tune a car properly with a shitty datalog... which is what I gave him.

I'm ready to get started too. Chompin' at the bit!
