No thread. Simple swap out, no tune modifications needed. about a 1300.00 swap with a core trade.

LOL, this thread is about A6 gear swaps. You have an LS3... Any particular reason you posted? Just curious.

A gear swap is a gear swap...some say you can't use the 3.91's in an A6, not of the same opinion...sorry I intruded on the A6 party...

A gear swap is a gear swap if both transmissions had the same ratios. They do not. A 3.91 in a M6 is equivalent to 3.73 in A6. In my opinion ideally would be max 3.45 for FI or 500+ HP and 3.73 for a bolt on car.

I would have never known if someone else didn't point it out, lol. You could have 4 Camaro's and one is an A6 for all I know. No worries. But like others are stating, I'm fairly certain it's a whole other game with an auto.

You WILL need a tune for a gear swap or your speedometer will be off calibrated in addition to our A6 transmission shifting by the computer and RPM which also needs to be adjusted to go with the new gear.

Love mine, great on the street.Car feels 500 hundred pounds lighter. The 3.91 gears turns it into a totally different car.It should come from the factory that way.made the car a lot more fun.

A6 With 3.91 gears is like a M6 with 4.10 gears, AWESOME. 1st gear works just fine thank you very much, the car hooks up and takes off like a rocket. With just the speedo adjustment it just removes the hole you had to dig out of off of the line. With a good trans tune you will break loose at shifts thru 3rd gear, which is AWESOME. With a good tune this trans shifts QUICK! Every one with a manual will tell you No No No, because you will pull hard on a Manual and be consistent as all hell. Factory pulled unit from Ofer had it swapped for less that $800. Adding boost she will be a tire shredder for sure.

FYI 75mph is 2200rpm in 6th gear, and you can accelerate in 6th now, before she bogged down.
