1le launch control

I have a 1LE and have recently discovered that it does come with a launch control I'm posting this because I haven't found any discussions on here talking about it. To use this launch control put the vehicle in sport competitive mode, line up, and floor the peddle and hold it. The vehicle should hit 6k and fall down into place. At that point your ready to pop your clutch and have fun.

Side note I did find that if you let off the gas slightly (don't let it go entirely) you can change from 5k to 4k. Not sure why but once you let off a bit you can put it back to the floor and the RPMs will stay at 4k. Hope this helps and hope I'm not repeating a bunch of other posts though I probably am.

Yep it's a standard feature on the SS camaros. Just watch you don't dump your rear end with those sticky tires!

You guys probably haven't heard about it because standing start launching isn't a big priority item with the corner-carver types that the 1LE is more closely intended for. So it doesn't get talked about much . . . or maybe at all.

Much easier to launch the car normally. To me launch control pulls too much timing on launch to make it worth while.

Right now I am only using the 1LE at the drags. Other venues later.

So far I cannot get below a 2.2 60'. With my '11 SS with Pirellis I was able to get a few 1.9s. I must be doing something wrong. I have been experimenting with LC (normally I just turn TC off) and I think maybe a 2,500-3,000 LC Launch might be an improvement. (LC pulls timing?) You have to watch out for 4K launches, You can get quite a bit of wheel hop with the 1LE. That also could be part of the problem, my '11 had none.

Also a mostly stock Turbo New Beetle beat me last Tuesday. He did red light to do it.

My conclusion so far is the 1LE is no faster than an LS3 SS 2010-2013. But maybe things will loosen up with more miles. 1,000 so far.

The Transmission is geared differently. A normal SS would benefit more from the 3.91s. And even stock you have to shift into 4th in the quarter mile with the 1LE. You have to mod an SS to need that shift.

I have only see one 1LE here without DRs getting into the very high 12s. This is just like other LS3s who can touch the 12s with good driving and DA. Others with more talent than me like NHRAStocker can run a stock SS TO 12.588 from the LS3 fast list. I will believe the 1LE is faster than a normal SS when someone beats that 12.588 stock.

Anyone here running easy stock tired 12s? I may have missed a post or two.

edit: Doh, a search turned up several stock tired high 12s.

Rear tire vertical stiffness is probably hurting the 1LE at launch a little even if everything else was the same. Call it one of the non-$ costs of the greater lateral stiffness and better cornering behavior you get from stretching 285/35's out onto 11" wheels.

The 285/35 has shorter sidewalls that are straighter in the lower sidewall region (down near the bead) that won't flex as much as the 275/40's sidewalls that "belly out" more past the wheel in that region.

You could also think that the sidewalls pinching in more with the 275/40's allows them to give a little more over tiny bumps and pavement roughness, upsetting acceleration traction less.

Sorry about all the edits.

Pretty sure LC controls wheel spin to maintain max traction
