Front tire sidewall crack

I remember about a bulletin regarding cracking tires with low temperature. These tires have not seen those temps but I found this crack on the front passenger tire while washing today. It has 5K miles on it and has never any curbs/objects. Should this be covered under warranty? It seems to me that it is defective.

Since you haven't hit anything, it looks like a manufacturing defect. It's definitely covered under warranty - see your dealer asap. I would not mess around with a cracked tire. Good luck.

My driver side rear blew out on me on hwy 2 weeks ago with only 1660mi on them. Thank God for run flats!! Drove str8 the the dealership got out car and looked at tire...the was a crack in the wall where tire split open. Service guy try to say maybe I hit something on the hwy, but I'm thinking my frt tire would have hit it first!! Anyway, they replaced under warranty thru GY! So me all happy now!!! Good Luck with it but I'm sure they will take care of it!!

That doesn't look like a crack to me, there's even a chunk missing where the initial impact gouged the tire. Something obviously cut it.

I agree. It looks like something damaged the tire. Have your dealer look at it, and they'll make the call.

When did they start putting run flats on 1LEs, or have you already changed tires?

I just wanted to see how he would explain it .... Usually when someone calls someone out on a BS post they never explain themselves or make something else up and end up digging a deeper hole.

As stiff as these sidewalls are, I bet he did not even realize he had a flat at first. Until you turned the wheel, I bet you can go a long way in a straight line before you realize it. Doesn't the DIC warn of low tire pressure?

I have to agree with others that this tire has hit something. Look carefully and you can see the evidence of this. (1) scuff mark between the y and e on goodyear. (2) a second line scar going up and down thru the e on goodyear. (3) another scuff mark on the part that says owners, this even was erasing the letters until it puntured the tire. Good luck on getting the dealer to believe this tire has not hit something. Let us know the end results

I have a spot on my drivers side rear tire that looks odd to me and I KNOW for a fact that I haven't hit anything with mine (YET) it has 176 miles on her. I'll get a pic in just a bit for everyone to judge
