The halos are merely there for looks. They do not provide nearly enough light to be useful.
If you are asking about halogens (not halos), then there is definitely a difference. HID produces a brighter but cleaner light path. I love having them on my Camaro.

Whats the lumens on the hids? I read somewhere its a 4500k?
id like to know this, i was hoping itll be at least a 8000k which is more whiteish/blueish like the bmws. |

Thats def a 4500k hid
I would know what the lumens are, i believe those are 4500, i saw on 5thgen.org someone changed the hids to a 8000k and it looked pretty sweet. edit: found it. heres a 8000k hid setup with hid fogs - ![]() For More Pics & Info - http://www.5thgen.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15056 |

That hopefully is not expressed in Lumens which is a measure of intensity. The values you see with the letter K following are what is called the "Temperature" or "Color Temperature" of the light, and that tells you what the color will be... blue/white/yellow,etc.
