Take out your back seat, all the interior in the rear of the car, your speakers in the back if they have any, trunk carpet, entire AC system including heater core & HVAC system, forged wheels, carbon fiber hood and trunk lid, take out front seats and install just the driver seat as a Recaro, total exhaust, manual tranny, aluminum or carbon fiber driveshaft. Im sure there's more you can strip. Cant think of it off the top of my head, but that should take off 3-400lbs of weight easily.

I'm surprised no one has mention Doc's build thread yet: Blue Angel.
He's done more work on weight reduction (while keeping the car completely streetable) than anyone else |

Well I was thinking of removing the backseat, aftermarket battery and new front seats to start because I already installed an mrt exhaust which dropped a good deal of weight. I was looking into buying seibon hood, trunk, and fenders but for that money I could buy a used turbo or supercharger.

Quote:
- don't waste money on a CF hood, the OEM hood is aluminum and extremely light. - Fenders don't save that much weight, but some. The most weight can be saved through: - lightweight 19" or 18" wheels - Racing Brake brake rotors - one-piece driveshaft - lighter pulley - and I'm sure I've left plenty off, but this is just what comes to mind right off the bat. |

Whenever I read these threads about weight savings, I always wonder how heavy the driver is.

![]() Fuel is a lot heavier than you think. If you're racing, definitely have no more than 1/4 tank, preferably less.

Well like I always say if you're a big boy there's nothing wrong with hitting the gym to shed weight off. Just don't tell the wife you're doing it for the car lol

What are you planning on doing with the car? Were you remove the weight can be as important as how much you lose. For example, Losing 1 lb out of the wheels and tires will have the same effect as taking 2 lbs out of the body. If your doing road course, you want to be conserned about the cars balance. In a car like the Camaro, You would be better to remove some wieght from the front of the car then the rear, to get it closer to a 50/50 front/rear ratio. The reason the Miatas do so well on the track is its light, and has a 50/50 wieght ratio. Google corner balancing if you want more information on it.

Hehe well the "Doc" is... "in". Here's a link to the mentioned project thread where I document the changes I made to my car; most of it being weight reduction and the results.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45165 I currently have a new set of track wheels being painted and I bought a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports to go along with them. My Pfadt Tri-Y headers and cats are scheduled to arrive tomorrow so within the next few weeks I'll be adding more to my project thread with weights of the new items and before/after dyno sheets for the new headers and cats. 200 lbs is quite a bit to remove but if you remove the right kind of weight, you'll get much more benefit than if you simply pull 200 lbs of dead weight out of the car. Mine currently weighs about 3,688 lbs with a full tank, and that's with the full interior completely stock; I haven't gutted or ruined anything. So stripping out sound-deadening, seats, carpeting, etc. isn't necessary. The route I took on my build wasn't the cheapest necessarily, but it's solid, it all works very well and the car sounds fantastic and it's a blast to drive.
