I absolutely love how people are able to come up with so many different ideas and looks on the same style car to give them such unique looks. Your car is very elegant and classy looking Hylton; love the look! It has almost a NASA look to me. Try these for the side vents; I bet on a silver car and your car in particular this would really enhance the look:

The ONLY detail I would change is the SS emblems on the sides look a bit too big. Maybe 75% of that size would look just about right.

Question: Have you checked to see if there are any water-leak sealing issues with the tail lights now that the chrome surrounds are removed? Looks great BTW.

Thank you! The SS badges on the fenders were widely used by Cheverolet over the last few years. They were found on the Trailblazer SS, Impala SS, HHR SS and Cobalt SS. You can order the smaller size (look at my truni lid) but I found them too small for my taste. My side SS emblems may look large to some but I think they represent evolution to the look of the 1969 Camaro SS:

With respect to water getting behind the tail lights, water gets behind there reagrdless due to the trunk drip rails running into the same location. When you open the trunk, you'll notice that the drip rails will run directly into the area behind the tail lights. The late 2nd gens and all the 3rd gens were the same.

Well then it seems you had a logical reason for what you chose and that's perfectly acceptable. I still think they look a bit big but that's a matter of individual taste. I'll be putting smaller ones on mine but I accept your reason for doing yours that way and the car is a show-stopper. Grats on the successful look!

haha. Broke a clip. Gave up. Going back to try again soon.

I pushed on the light but couldn't get it to go through.

I'm confused.

To continue the questions in the right spot.

So you did go gloss black and not the diamond correct?

How much ball park is something like that? (Been a few years since I modded cars and everything as seemed to get expenisve since then and I wouldn't have any idea what is to little or to much)

How long till you could wax or even wash it?

How does that affect the paint warranty?

Thanks, and I've always valued and enjoyed your insite on the many threads you have commented on.

Yes, I went gloss black. I am also a 1st gen owner and I did it as a tribute to the 1st gen big block Camaro as they all came from the factory with gloss black tail pans. Yes I've heard the flat black and semi gloss black comments but I have discussed this issue to death with 1st gen gurus and it's gloss black.

As far as paint warranty, you can count on it affecting your warranty to some degre. However, I had it down at the dealership so I would imagine that it would be handled the same way that a new car which got into a fender bender would be handled. Most of the paint is on the plastic fascia so there wouldn't be any rust issues. Cost? I sort of got everything done at the same time (front mailslot removal and repaint, GFX paint and rear). I would think that if you show up with the Chevy badge and tail lights removed, they could fill in the trunk lid holes and do BC/CC for $500.00). It's not a very big area.

I used Turtle Wax Ice 1 week after it was painted. No problems since.

car looks great, but it would be a sleeper to the untrained eye if all the SS badges were removed

All you run into is the untrained eye anyways. Most people think my car is how stock SS camaros look from the factory.
