Have you had the dealer rotate the tires? put them on the rear and if the steering wheel still vibrates it is not the wheel/tire combo. If the seats start to vibrate after doing this it is something with the wheel/tire combo.

I don't think you can. The front wheels are 8" wide and the rear are 9". I think there may be some clearance issues if you tried to put the rear wheels up front.

I drove it today for about 30 minutes. Still the same. The vibration does not seem to be brake related. I feel it when I accelarate over about 60 or cruze at that speed too.

Back to the dealer on Turesday for a ride with a Tech to demonstrate the vibration.

Should I just expect to have a vibration when driving cruzing above 60? Not what I expected to experience.

Anyone else experienceing this issue or have any insight?
I was experiencing the same problem.Got it checked twice from the dealer & finally found problem with Rotor.Have it checked again.

I took it back to the dealer this morning and took the Tech and Service Manager for a ride. Both of them felt the vibration around 70 mph.

Tech thought it might be due to the car sitting in QC Hold for 6 weeks. He was going to do a "force ballance" and see what he came up with. Speculated that I may need new tires.

That could be the case. I'm still trying to work out vibration issues on the Taurus wagon. Previous owner was nice enough to sell it with some pretty craptastic tires. I'm currently debating whether it is bad enough to replace them all now or wait until they're due for replacement due to wear. Putting the two most even tires up front helped, but that was a FWD car. Good luck.

I know this may sound crazy but check to see if the tires are mounted correctly on the rims; the rotation direction arrows pointing forward. If one of them is mounted backwards that might cause a wobble at higher speeds.

if you added wheel locks remove them and return to stock lugs. I caused a vibration by adding them, removed and problem solved.

When my car was new, I had a Goodyear Eagle GS-C tire that was out of round. Dealer said take it to Goodyear. They replaced it free (the receipt showed it was a $300+ tire).

I was going to say that too. Very likely you just have a warped tire. Some tires get permanently messed up pretty easily. Even if they balance it or road force balance it, it won't fix it.

A good experiment would be to have some kind of spare tire/wheel just to verify the problem is the tire/wheel.

I do this on all my cars. In some cases, I put on a full size spare and then i feel the shaking went away and I KNOW FOR SURE it's the tire/or rim.

Also, when they balance your tire, you can just look at it when its turning. If you see ANY signs of the tire moving up and down, or any kind of wobble in the tire itself, you will see you basically need a new tire.

Adios

Just got the following via e-mail from the dealer:

Your Camaro is ready to roll. After re-inspection, Mark found that every suspension related component of the car was in top notch shape and well within specs. So we decided to rebalance the tires with a different balancing technique called “road force balancing”, which is a much more precise way to balance your tires. It simulates the weight of the car being placed on each wheel as it is on the balancing machine. After performing this type of balancing, the vibration that you, Theresa, and Mark felt on the test drive has subsided. You can pick up your car anytime. We are here until 7pm.

I will pick it up tonight and see if it corrects the issue.
