Here is something to consider... I run it in everything that burns gas and has a valvetrain... It is super high in Zinc and will prevent scuffing on all internal engine surfaces. On a side note, I wonder if GM would cover the repair bill with their 100k drivetrain warranty? Have you (or anyone else) heard of other issues with cam lobe failure from the roller lifters burning through the hardened camshaft lobe surface?http://www.acdelco.com/parts/vehicle...bly-lubricant/

It was great seeing you at the Fest again PQ. Those cam lobes looked much worse in person than pictures. I'm rooting for your rebuild and will be watching this thread closely. You will be glad you chose to work on it yourself. Just take your time when you get stuck or something is unclear and don't cut any corners.

PQ, just saw this on FB this morning and thought I'd share with you. It would be a sweet deal if you were the only bidder on it. Lol

I know the guys to call on for sure.

Looks like I will probably let Livernois build me a long block. Since it was a valvetrain issue and not just a bottom end issue that probably caused this there is not much that doesn't really need to be replaced. Rockers and pushrods could be. Probably the valves. I'll send them the heads and let them salvage whatever they can to save me a little money.

Or................................................ ......

If I use my block as a core I MIGHT be able to get 400.00 or so knocked off because it will cost me to ship it to them as well. And the heads MIGHT save me the same amount BEFORE they port them and stuff.

So giving that math, and considering I gotta replace the whole valve train other than, say, the rockers and maybe the pushrods, there is not much knew that I won't have to buy.

Soooooooo............

Why not re-buy the cam and two lifters and put it all back together and run it while I save money? Sure, it might die in a few months but it might live for a year or more. I would have a car to drive while I wait. AND it will give me a practice run on the install. It's worth the 400.00 to 800.00 it would cost me to do it.

In the meantime I"m saving for my new engine from Livernois. Ya?
