I have had it in the shop like 3 or 4 times now for this same problem and now I am about to take it in again. Gm knows of the problem because the service guys told me they had a notice about it and all they were to do was change the fluid and run it it drive for an hour to work the oil in.

With all the service time my car has been in the shop ally has gotten a free month payment from me and it's starting to get old real fast.

Any suggestions?

Edit: Oh I forgot I have a l99 A6
There's a service bulletin out on this. I had it done on my car. Change the axle seals and fluid I believe. Found the bulletin on this site.

I have this same issue, but I only hear it when turning to the Left. Feels as if the car is sliding a little. Kinda like turning a 4wd truck on pavement and it slips some. Can't figure out what is going on

It's not normal period. Go to a new dealer. I have the paperwork to show its not normal and when I get home from work I will check for a number and pm you.

v6 have these problems or just the SS? It's the damnest thing, it used to be they put most their efforts in making the v8 the better or the 2, this time it seems the v8 guys got the short straw, v6 seems to have missed several common problems of the SS... really makes you think.

[Okay so I bought my car 11 months ago new on the lot and I have had It in for an ongoing problem with something in the rear end. What is happening is I get this grinding sound when I make turns(almost sounds like a tire rubbing the wheel well).]

I'm having this same problem with 2012 SS, L99. Does anyone know the Service Bulletin number on this? What does GM do to fix the problem? Thanks.

I just purchased a brand new 2013 ss2 convertible, the 1st day I was downshifting at a very low speed while turning a corner, I heard a clunk coming from he rear end somewhere. It has happened a few more times but never often enough to bring it in because they would have to have it a week and it may never do it. I just turned 200 miles on it.
Having 2 nissans, a 96 300zx tt and a 2012 370z touring roadster, both cars shift smooth as silk. Has anyone else heard that sound from their new (or older) ss stick.

54Oramac,

Apologies for the vehicle concerns as I'm sure that's displeasing for you. Have you contacted your local dealer for an appointment? Feel free to contact me privately and I will assist in monitoring any service visits on your behalf.

Kindly,

William R.

I have a 45th 2ss, and literally me and my wife started hearing this exact same noise yesterday leaving my sons Tae kwondo parkign lot. I cannot replicate it at will, which makes me nervous to take it to my dealer, but Have heard it 3 times in the 30 minutes combined driving it since. Do you know the TSB number or have any of that info? Thanks a ton

So... anyone have that TSB number? I went to Chevy today to set up my appointment for next week to get my grinding noise looked at, the rep told me he saw no TSB 's regarding axles issues, as we have seen here before. Now, while he was extremely proffesional guy, after telling him my car was a 2ss 4 times, he still had to ask me if "that was the v6 one or the V8 one". Now I live in Kansas, and their is about 2 camaro's on the lot as opposed to 100 + trucks, and my confidence in him knowing what he was talking about in regards to a camaro is lacking. So- if anyone has that TSB or what I need to tell him to look for, I would appreciate it. The main problem is, I can not re create the noise at will, its intermintent. I can go a whole day without hearing it, or I can hear it 3 times in a trip to the grocery store. Thanks
