Magnaflow Comp Axel back vs muffler delete

Im looking to purchase the Magnaflow Comp Axel back exhaust but from I can tell it just looks like a muffler delete with 5" tips on them....am I missing something? What would be the difference between the Magnaflow axel back system or just deleting my mufflers and running pipes back?

I have the Flowmaster mufflers with x pipe now and not loud enough, just barely louder than stock and I want a deep aggressive sound.

any help is appreciated...thanks

From what Ive read that is the 'street' setup that comes with mufflers, the comp series do not...here is what I was looking at http://www.slickcar.com/details/8192...FVNo7AodVE4AHg

3" comp has mufflers some of the 2 1/2" do also The 2 1/2" axle back your looking at doesn't. It probably is not much different than a muffler delete.

I.misread and thought you said the 3"

MF comp axle back = muffler delete with big tips
MF 2.5" comp cat back = 1 resonated X (1 muffler)
MF 2.5" street cat back=3 mufflers (1 res x and 2 mufflers)
MF 3" comp cat back = x pipe and 2 mufflers (x is not resonated)

@OP, I don't think there would be a difference between the two

That's exactly what I was thinking. Your local exhaust shop can delete the mufflers and re-use the factory tips or put on bigger tips for considerably less than the Magnaflow system. That's what the previous owner of my car had done.

I have the Magnaflow with mufflers and just did a muffler delete with BBK Shorties and stock Cats. The sound is still acceptable, not too loud. I have the L99 and no droning...

As long as RPM's are under 2000 (or maybe 1900) there is no drone in mine. So I never hear drone with normal highway driving.

Not a big fan of the sound of the muffler delete. Do you have any plans for adding headers ? Big fan of magna flow, it's got a nice sound to them.

I want to put headers on mine but I don't want to lose my warranty just yet. Probably about this time next year I'll start looking at buying some LT's
