I've not driven any 5th gen Camaro but my ZL1, however, the 1LE should have similar handling characteristics as my car. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please. Anyway, when I drive other cars, and I'll grant you they aren't SS Camaros, they feel loose in corners and brakes feel soft to me and I can't hardly stand it. I'm only pointing this out because as a daily driver it is sure nice to have a car that cuts a corner without body roll and stops when and where you need it to.

I don't know anything about your knee. But my car is a manual and I have a little knee pain. My clutch has never bothered me.

You know you better than anyone. But your husband knows you about that well only slightly more objectively. In the end the two of you will make the right decision and I think you'll love whatever you get.
I'll say your wrong. My 1LE felt nothing like the ZL1. Just felt solid. Night and day difference. Just my opinion though...

Both are great cars and you will love either one. I have really bad knees and there is no way I could drive a manual anymore. My last manual was a 1978 Z28 which I loved, but there were days that pushing in the clutch hurt like hell. I finally had to sell it and got a automatic 1979 Corvette. It is your knee and if it gets bad you may have to give the car up. I do have to admit, if I could drive a manual I would have one.

Good luck with your choice. I don't think you can miss either way. If you go with the auto SS, you can always get the Range AFM Disabler to run in V8 mode all the time. Let us know what you decide.

If the 1LE had been out when I bought my 2SS, I would have gone with the 1LE in a heartbeat. If you arent too worried about your knee issues, go 1LE.

OP

Regardless of what model you choose, we here in Oshawa home of the 5thgen Camaro send our thanks to you for supporting GM and Team Camaro. As you've stated, you have waited a life time to get your hands on one, so I'm sure you'll make the right decision. Either way you'll have a world class and quality built Chevrolet.

Enjoy the ride and feel free to post a picture of your Camaro on my FB page ( Michael Judge)

Best regards from Canada.

How was your SS test drive? The 2SS/1LE is a great choice as well. Either way, you will be very happy with your choice. Keep us posted.

It was awesome! I got the 1LE on the 30th! I have been wanting to get back here and post. I've been so busy. I'm going to attempt some minor mods tomorrow. I will take some before and after pics and post them.

Met a guy outside a mall that was just getting out of his 1LE. He loves it of course but states the suspension is "tuned" for the track, not the potholes most of us put up with on a daily basis.

Just something to consider.
