EDIT: Upon further review, I'm assuming the $24,000 price difference you're referring to is in comparison to the SS. If so, I can agree to an extent. The price premium of the ZL1 is a bit much to swallow. |

Hey BRMike,
First off, congrats on the ZL1. Good question, not sure what the Z/28 price will be nor command. I am "guessing" which means I have no clue, but thinking it will be $50k bottom, $54k tops. Z/28 is bridging the gap between SS/1LE and ZL1 so if the ZL1 is to be "top dog", then I am thinking of the price above. And I am also guessing that ZL1 is to be the "top dog" via HP, but perhaps the Z/28 holds more appeal, I don't know. I am so thrilled to have my car, that it is all good, I have always liked Camaros since age 8 or so, even during the dark years of Berlinettas... |

I'd love to have a ZL1 in my garage. However, I'm still sporting my GTO.
I have been a Camaro fanatic since a very young age as well. In 1998 I was able to buy my first Camaro. Unfortunately, someone else liked it very much as it was stolen in 2004 (GTO was the replacement as the Camaro was out of production). I may finally bite the bullet and order a 1LE this year. |

Thanks a lot for the comments and advice
I'm obviously in no rush as I have a beautiful 2011 SS in the garage. The only reason I'm even thinking of trading up, is 1. my age, I probably won't be buying a bunch more new cars, and 2. My concern that muscle cars may be going the way of dinosaurs thanks to the Feds and this may be my last chance to buy a road rocket with that V8 sound.
I'll keep you posted on what I decide to do. Anyway, thanks again. You can see from my avatar, I've been a Chevy fan for awhile

Unfortunately, until that Z/28 hits the streets nothing will happen.... Because until we have actually seen this car in action no one can really answer which is best for anyone.... However, right now where I stand is if I want a stick I will wait on the ultimate stick in the Z/28..... If I want an automatic then the ultimate automatic is the ZL1..... I mean just watching what some of these guys have done with a Z06 there is no telling the limits of this Z/28...... How about with mods over 1000HP... the Z/28 actual and potential can't be ignored if tracking it is your desire..... We're talking an episode of American Muscle where the Z/28 ruled the tracks both drag and track.....

You won't get a sniff of a Z-28 for 50-54K, it's not a between model from the ss and zl1. It's a GM halo car and will be priced accordingly. Even from gm's own words it will be the most expensive camaro model offered. OP I'm with the majority here. If you really want the best roadcourse car factory offered from gm that you can still drive on the street, get the z/28. If you want a car that is excellent at DD, drag, and is quite capable on the roadcourse, get the zl1. can't really go wrong with either

There is no way a z/28 will come in under the price of a ZL1. I'm thinking more around $70k - $75K depending upon options. Also that $24k difference between a 2SS/RS and a ZL1 is a little off, it's more like $17K and you get a lot of extras for that money.

GM has said on the record that the Z/28 is the top of the line Camaro. Read $$$.

I was thinking around 70K as well. And I'm also thinking what in hell is GM thinking making a Camaro that expensive? So you have two Camaros at or well over 60K. Why? Why would you put this thing out when you are also putting out a new Vette for considerably less $? I'll let the boys with the Bow Ties do their thing but I think this car is a product of an artificial market distortion that i received a warning from an admin about discussing so I won't. But this car makes no sense at all to me.

Yes the z28 will be more due to special custom items to try to loose weight....like unobtanium brake rotors and special silica made from diamonds for the rear window.
There is no doubt the zl1 is better looking...with out a cleft chin, and has more power, and even a working stereo and a/c not as options. Some times I think they made the z-28 just to make the zl1 look more the bargain.

When I purchased my fully loaded 2013 2SS/RS convertible from a no haggle Chevrolet dealer in SoCal in May my SS had an msrp of $47k, but, was marked down to $43,048. I got another $2k off with my GM points. $41k before taxes. The ZLI fully loaded convertible was priced at $67,900. To be fair, msrp to msrp, it was a difference of $21k. The reason I did not buy the ZL1 was that my friends 427 corvette smokes the ZL1 and my other friends Porsche Turbo S smokes the 427. Any Camaro is a nice, good looking cruiser, but, in street trim, it is no match for Turbo's, GT3's, Z06's, Zr1's, GTR's, 458's, Lambo's, McLaren's, etc. This is primarily the cars that show up at our once a month "cars n' coffee" and there are plenty all over So Cal. The Camaro is in the Mustang, Challenger, M3, modified import class. For the money I think the Camaro and the Corvette are great values and have great looks.
