Allocation Question......Viz

Help, I am driving my wife crazy with this car.

Her question as well as mine: Can anyone find out if a dealer has an allocation?

My dealer said he did back in May ( I placed my order May 18th); now I believe I was fed a line, just to get an order. Still at 1100, number 12 on "the dealer's list".

The dealer's allocation is between the dealer and GM unless the dealer shares it with you. Your best way of knowing is asking to look at their allocation by week report and their order status page showing all of their existing camaro orders. Between those you should be able to get the info you're looking for and figure out when your car would be produced. For example, if they're getting about 3 allocations per week, and there's 12 ahead of you, you know you've got about a month to wait.

Allocation for the Camaro works this way. The dealer is issued an allocation number based on criteria that General Motors sets. If the dealer gets allocated 5 cars, GM will only accept 5 orders to be built. And of those 5 orders the dealer might only get 1 built per month. Unless the dealer receives extra allocations from GM, it becomes a turn and earn issue. Which means that when the dealer delivers a car from his inital allocation he will earn an allocation to order another car. So, the faster a dealer can deliver cars the faster he will earn allocation. Your dealer should be able to tell the buyer if he has any allocations, as GM gives the schedule for this a couple weeks in advance.

I am sitting at #11 in my dealers production cue. They are getting 11 allocations this month. BUT.... Here's the good part - at least for me- there are 7 V8 M6 orders ahead of me! So, I'm thinking since they are now on constraint, I will move into spot #4 in the production cue!!! Sorry to all the V8 M6 guys..... But I am just slightly excited for me!! We'll see if it actually works out that way.

I appreciate the input. I kind of thought that's how things were working. Now my wife wants me to go get her deposit!

I'll be talking with them soon (probably today).
