Head Gasket issues

Hi guys, does anybody else have issues with the left bank head gasket on the HFV6's? I keep getting combustion into coolant leaks on Cylinder #6, the head was surfaced flat, the block was surfaced flat, the head prerssure tested and everything crack tested.

Funny enough i see when i ordered a new one from my dealer, the part number was superseeded and only for the left bank also, so does this mean there might be a know problem with this current gasket that its being replaced by a new one?

The part number went from 12634478 to 12648843, the right bank was not superseeded and still has the same part number of 12634479.

So yes i suppose the short question is does anybody know of left bank head gasket failures?

OK, got the new part number gasket but there is no visible difference, why would they change it then?

Look real close to the ends, might see a change. They would appear to be the same, but I am gueesing the end has a change to it.

nope, don't bother posting pictures. I am just saying what I know from what I have seen, and I will leave it at that. It appears to be a 1.5 mm differance in material on the one end.

Thanks for the info i really appreciate it, i just want to find out, when you say a 1.5mm difference at one end do you mean in thickness or how wide the sealing ring is? also the one end you speak of, is it perhaps the right side of the gasket? and also where did you manage to find this info on the gasket?

Thanks again and sorry about the frenzy of questions

The 1.5 mm appears to be longer. Nothing to do with thickness.

not sure what side of the gasket it is depends on how you look at it.
