ZL1 Fender Flares... (from the Z/28)?

I just watched the Jay Leno's Garage test of the Z/28 and I got real interested in the fender flares that it has... Looks like a good solution for the protection of the paint on the sides which gets chunked up by the sticky wide tires we have on our ZL1s. If it's something that can be purchased and installed on our ZL1s, I'm probably going to do it. It does seem that it is integrated with the side skirts, so those may have to be installed too.

I figure it's a lot better than the rock guards we're all installing which try to match the stock rears as much as possible. And even seems like more protection too.

(BTW, the suspension on the Z/28 sound really interesting too... And I thought we had it good.)

If they blended it a bit better with the flare of the wheel well, they'd look a lot better to me.

Good concept. IMO, the Z28 flares look like a cheap add on. Not well integrated with the car's body lines. If the fenders were flared without seams it would look better. I for one would not bolt the Z28 flares on my ZL1. But, everyone has their own style and likes.

I think the reason for the flares is that the Z/28 is running 19" wheels. And i think they do look cheep. I like the camaro the way it is. With out the look of bolting on stuff. Keep it clean

The front fender flare on the Z/28 doesn't look like it fits very well, because it appears that it covers up a corner of the parking light in the picture.

To me they look like this.....

Not my cup of tea. I wish GM had built a modified fender setup that was wider and not bolt-on. I am sure cost was a factor as it that would have been a ton more money to produce.

I hear you guys... I do wish Chevy thought more about the practicality of the initial fender design and the wider rubber causing issues. I think it would be awesome to be able to replace the fenders and quarter panels in whole with new replacements that have nicely integrated flares... Short of redesigning or rebuilding the car, our options within financial reasonability are merely band-aids for the rock chip issues... And short of wrapping our cars in saran wrap or bolting on cheap mudflaps, we're destined to have bead blasted side body panels.

Anyway, I suppose it's at least another bolt-on option... If it actually would be possible... TBD I guess.
