CAI: K&N or Cold Air Inductions?

I slightly prefer the look of K&N, but I feel like CAI may be the better performance part. CAI is also more expensive. What are y'alls personal experiences with these products? I need help deciding which to buy!

I don't think you'll see anyone on here that prefer K&N over CAI.

Lay off any intake that uses metal tubes, they become HAI. Not a big fan of K&N I would go CAI or roto-fab.

If those are the two choices you've narrowed it to, CAI no question.

No comparison. CAI Inc intakes produce much better performance gains and are a much higher quality product.

Did somebody say K&N? I think somewhere in the world someone gets into a wreck everytime that brand is mentioned.

K&N hot air intake FTW! Be sure to grab a long throw shifter while you're swimming in NAPA know-how.

Regardless of wether the intake tube is plastic or aluminum it's going to heat soak the exact same. The plastic will take a little longer to reach temp than the aluminum but the aluminum will also cool off faster. Plain and simple you have two different systems that are both sucking hot air from the engine bay in. In the real world with closed hood and traffic speeds neither is any better than another.

Do an experiment for me. Put a piece of plastic and a piece of metal in the sun and let it sit till they both come to temp. Then touch them both and see which one heats your hand up faster.

Plastic and metal transmit heat at different rates. It's not just about what temperature the material is. Plastic is an insulator. It resists heat transfer through it... even if it is the same temperature as the air around it.

CAI.........It just looks like it belongs under the hood of a Camaro. The performance gains are just an added plus.

That's like saying if you put a piece of glass and a couch pillow beside eachother on a 20 degree night and touch them both that the glass is actually colder than the pillow simply because it "feels" colder when in reality they are the exact same temperature
