A broken spring can happen on a DD, choosing your valve train correctly for the auto cross is a must.
The NF cam doesn't have aggressive lobes, I think Tbone would be ok with some morel high rpm linkbar lifters, some bad azz chromoly 3/8 pushrods and the correct spring I think he'll be ok. IMHO.

I agree valvetrain selection is critical but I still think its a lot riskier proposition than it needs to be. It's around what, .63x lift? Haven't seen anyone spec something that high lift on stock cubes for road racing. I don't think the increased risk of a dropped valve is worth 10hp on the top end. When even Lethal has said they'd use something else for road racing I don't see why anyone would still go that route. Unless you're looking for an excuse to replace a motor with a big ole ERL sleeved block but your wife won't let you until you grenade the one you got.

Did lethal say why they wouldn't use it for the road course? I'd like to hear their thoughts on it. Screw the 10 peak hp... It's the torque table i'm interested in. With the right suspension i would think it could be ideal. Maybe TBone will be our guinea pig!

Lobe/lift. It does have a great torque curve but the way they get their power is not focused on high rpm stability which would only matter on a road course. Ordered my Brian Tooley spec'd cam over the weekend and I can assure you it won't be anywhere near .63x lift. Its just depressing its another 2.5 months before I can install it.

Makes enough sense i suppose. I guess racing is expensive enough as it is without throwing expensive valvetrain maintenance on the pile. Replacing the springs frequently would get old pretty quick.

I do have the springs changed out before each season just as preventative maintenance. Every year for the last three the car has seen over 150 passes so it was a no brainier. |

Road course could be the equivalent or higher though in 1 session to 150 passes. These guys replace their brakes constantly!

I didn't read the page before so I'm not sure how the spring change discussion started.

We were just discussing why the night fury might not be ideal for the road course.
