I agree! Imports (read Ricers) are the true scum of the streets and need to humbled at every opportunity. I do like some of zee German offerings, but is quite a lot of fun to school M series and AMG owners too!

Had a nice cruise a couple summers ago with my buddies from high school. We had Fords, Chevys, Pontiacs, a Mopar and a lonely WRX STI (had to cut the guy a break, no one's perfect right). We were too stupid to remember to take pictures though. We even met some strangers when we stopped for In N Out who were out in their Z06 and cruised with us after that. All in all it was a good time, filled with fun and some zingers at our buddies (STI owner) expense.

My question I have is this, where is the appreciation for the Camaro faithful's most hated rival? I see an unbreakable bond between the Mustang and Camaro. Much like a sports rivalry such as Yankees/Red Sox, Dodgers/Giants, Lakers/Celtics, I see these two powerhouses of automotive might as rivals. Where would one be without the other? These two cars have combined for 87 years of production and millions of units sold. They share a similar architecture, power numbers and, dare I say, fan-base(?). Think of it this way, if there were never any Mustangs built, and you pulled up to a stop light, what would your foe in the next lane be driving?

Now before you go flaming me as a Blue Oval lover in disguise consider this. I grew up in a family where we have had all kinds of performance oriented AMERICAN cars. My grandfather worked for Chrysler for nearly 70 years. The first car my mom bought was a 1969 Corvette, 350 with an automatic. The second car she bought was a 1970 Stingray 454, 4 speed T-top car that is still in the family today. Other cars in my family have included: '77 Firebird T/A 400, 2004 Cadillac CTS-V, 1988 Mustang coupe 5.0 5 speed, 2005 Mustang GT 5 speed. And it looks like the next car on the list will be a new Cadillac CTS-V.

What's your take on the rivalry I hope will never die?

You forgot to include Mopar in your discussion!

Love the rivalry. I especially enjoy the trash talk. I never take it seriously. And think about the benefits. The Boss and Shelby spawned the recent ZL1, 1LE and Z/28. You're welcome. ;-)

Scum? I have seen some well done imports that would make your car look like it was running on 4 cylinders with no huge GFX or stupid graphics, on the other hand I have seen plenty of Camaros Mustangs, Challengers and other domestics I would describe as rice. Not all imports are rice and not all rice is imported......

I honestly like the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger. Biases and personal preferences aside, they are all well-made and well-built cars.

My wife drives a 12 mustang and I have a 10 camaro. We like to drive each others as well. Both are great cars!
For every business there must be competition otherwise there is no need to better your product. It is exciting to see GM, Ford and Dodge battle for the "top dog" spot.

If the latest facelift on the Mustang hadn't happened, I'd be driving one. Hunter green.

Agreed, and the new '13 headlights are sexy as hell.

OP, I thought the animosity was out of control as well, so I posed this thread and got a lot of positive responses... Camaro and mustang allegiance isn't mutually exclusive...

Chevy and Ford are a love/hate relationship....in reality they need each other and so do the consumers.

I love the new Camaro. Just couldn't find a good seating position for me due to the high belt line. But was a blast to drive around town. Love the new 5.0, but there's not much more fun than lots of low end torque around town. And jabbing is tons of fun too

Too true. And as the head engineer at Ford assured me, they have more than an answer for the Z/28. Love it.
