Scratches

My car is only 3 weeks old but I have noticed a scratch that is annoying the heck out if me. It's nothing deep but is an eye sore now that I've noticed it. How can I cover small scratches?

Ignore it buddy, don't look at it, and it will go away.

I have a dark blue metallic, Imperial Blue Metallic (IBM), no make no more. Now it is some other blue but anyways, dark color, shows all water spots, scratches, etc. Just go easy on it, give it the soft towel treatment with fine wax and polish and don't worry about it.

Kind of like scratches on us, gives us character.

DaJags85,

I know your really up-set but you have to be more selective where you park unless it's an assigned parking spot like I have at home. My space has vistor parking just to my right and I'm starting to get door dings

I now have to begin to look into door trim (color keyed) to keep those at bay. Now a days there's more inconsiderate people out there than you think.

Since I live in Los Angeles we have the worst road outta any place in the States and I'll bet the most inconsiderate people around. I just do the best I can and that's all you can do.

Yea, it's in a weird spot though. It's right next to the headlight. I'll take a picture of it today so you guys can let me know what you think. I thought it was a crack initially. I'm not sure what could have caused it.

Alright. I'll give it a shot this weekend. I just wanted to make sure it didn't look too deep.

It's def deep...paint is missing, nothing except more touch up will fix it. The scratch x will tone it down.......if you get toch up paint:

Clean the area then wipe with a paint prep...

Apply the paint thinly in several layers (do not do one thick blob). I like using a plastic tooth pick -you can let the paint drop roll down the pick right into the chip.

Apply enough thin coats that the filled in area slightly raises above the surrounding paint. Let dry for 2-3 days for the paint to out gas and shrink. Apply more touch up paint if needed.

use cleaner wax or meguires scratch X 2.0on the top of the bump smooth to the rest of the paint.

Polish to restore the shine.

OK, sounds like a plan. Should I just go to my local Chevy dealer to purchase touch-up paint?

DaJags85,

I know it's hard on you but if it helps I already have two door dings in my passenger side. Now I hae to look into door moldings to help prevent those.
