What is it about a Pontiac G8?

I've noticed a bit of cross information in posts here on Camaro5 between our GenV's and Pontiac G8s. What up with that? What are the common denominators?

So what constitutes this platform? Is it the subframes? Drivetrain? ??

Not only is it on the same platform, but the GXP comes with an LS3 and TR6060 transmission.

Great car....just traded my G8 GT in for my 1LE about 2 months ago! I have no need for all that space but definitely a fun ride.

Was a great option; they stopped making them (or any other Pontiacs) in 2009. The 2014 Chevy SS is kinda-sorta it's replacement.

I'm sure there are plenty available on the used market. I traded in my G8 GT in June for my SS and never looked back. The G8 was a good, solid, well mannered V8 sport sedan, but I just kind of got tired of it. I was driving F-body cars for the previous 10 years and I'm loving the heck out of my Camaro. I find myself being just as anal with this ride with regards to appearance and performance mods as I did with my two Firebirds. The G8 just didn't "inspire" me.

Except you can't get a manual trans in a new SS, making them lame as can be.

That's what I am worried about. I may have trade my LT/RS for a G8 GT for the room. I'm concerned I'm going to be bored with it once I get it.
