Sparks emblem FAIL

Not exactly what you would expect after dropping $280 on a couple emblems

I purchased back in April of 2012 and started seeing some problems later in the year. I emailed the manufacturer (Terry) back in February with detailed pics but I didn't receive a response. My car is not my daily driver and is kept in great shape...no harsh chemicals used, etc...

So, I'm coming here to see if anyone else has any issues and to warn future buyers of possible quality issues...they keep getting worse and I will be forced to remove because they take away from the car.

I had the exact same issue with my rear emblem. My car is also not a daily driver and never sees harsh chemicals. I contacted Terri and sent him pictures. After I spoke with him I sent the problem embem to him. It did take about 5 weeks to get resolved, but in the end everything worked out just fine. My only fear now is when will the front one fail on me and when will it start happening to the rear again. I dropped $335 on these because I had them custom painted. I would hate to see these emblems eventually become a paper weight because they just don't look good anymore.

Yep, I'm having a similar problem with mine also. The water spots are terrible. I wish they would make it in chrome. I have to polish my emblem more than I want to.

I was just having another look at your emblem. The issue I was having is the paint was starting to lift or bubbling up. That is kind of what it looks like your emblem is doing, but the other emblem or at least the picture makes it look like there is black specks in the paint. It is hard to tell because I am looking at them on my smartphone.

Yeah, the black specks on the white SS is how it started. The washed out look in the black I noticed a few weeks ago. I didn't think about water spots. I guess I can try to find something for the dremel and polish them...still sucks.

This is how my Sparks emblem looks. I have to polish it at least once every other week. As for the black specks, I don't know what to do with those. My car is not a daily driver either. I'm looking into something else also. You are right, it does take away from the custom look of the car. It would be nice if they made one in chrome like the DefenderWorx SS fender emblem which I have on my fenders and they looks great. Just wash and dry.

Update - I used some M205 on a microfiber towel and it cleaned up the water spots BUT it started to take off the white paint

What a disappointment...

Front not bad without, but I think the rear needs something. Crappy low light cell phone pics.

M205 was taking the paint off? WTF! The paint is that thin? I really hope this is not the future of my emblems.
Look on the brite side, you don't have holes in your trunk lid to deal with like I do.

Wow! From the pictures I just posted I noticed that the black paint between the ss is peeling off. I paid to much money for this to be happening.

I'm glad you noticed because I didn't have the heart to tell you

Maybe a vendor that has a relationship with Sparks will see this and help out. I'm going to forward my original email and also link to this thread to see if that gets us anywhere.

I tried to capture what M205 did in less than 3 seconds but didn't have much luck with my cell. I think you will be able to tell where it started to remove the paint. Again, this was with my finger and a microfiber towel.

Wow, for all the raving I hear about how awesome these are and "well worth the price" it seems that isn't quite the case here. They should definitely be chrome plated at least for that much money...I assumed they were. The black specs appearing in the paint is likely oxidization from the unsealed metal coming through to the surface.
