You are correct. That's why we shouldn't be lopping off O2 sensor wires .

Where would this "fresh air" tube be?

It's in the wire. I'll look at the ones i cut next time i'm at the shop. I've never run into wire that wouldn't take solder though. There is definitely something different about the type of wire used.

I have ran into wire that was practically impossible to solder. It looked like it was stainless steel or something similar.

Yeah, but that had to of been a special situation like this one. Stainless steel is a horrible conductor compared to copper alloys. Thermal resistance is aweful too.

I'm just going to go ahead and say it! If you NEED extenders, just buy them! I for one would never cut/splice o2's! The fronts on my pfadts reached just fine, and I completely removed the rears. If your going to do it, just do it right! It's only $40 and you already saved a ton by finding a set used.

Deezee is right. Where in the midwest are you OP? I have a set of extenders still taped in the box if you want them. I'll give them to you for shipping price just to see you get those headers on your car with no problems. Hurry up and get over to the dark side.

This should be flagged as one of the most ignorant threads on Camaro5. Reading through this is painful. Use the factory O2 sensors with extensions. Done, END, Finished.

Guys if you want to hack up some wires by all means "Do You"! the extenders are as close as OEM as you can get so just plug and play and you'll have years of problem free operation.

As far as tubes in the wires that carry fresh air....hog wash, no such thing. You might be confusing them with the EGR tubes.

I have always covered the rear 02 sensor plugs with electrical tape and zip tied them up and away. Never an issue.

I would spend the $40. Not worth the time and hassle of hacking you factory wiring up when there is a plug and play solution.
