Adams Quick Sealant Mistake... Help! - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Was using the quick sealant the other day. Sprayed it on, used the blue/red hex applicator to spread evenly, then wiped off. Only downside was I sprayed it on my sideskirt, then forgot to spread/wipe off and now it looks like shit. Didn't notice til the next day and now it seems pretty stuck on there. Used alcohol, detail spray, tried respraying/spreading sealant, and nothing seems to be working. Any ideas?

If you can't get it off you can apply quick sealant on the whole side skirt to at least make it even.

Depending on the surface its on (vinyl,paint,plastic?) I'd try APC with a MF towel or a tooth brush....

Before agitating I would try applying the quick sealant over the spot then wiping it off. Often applying the same product over it can help in removing it. If not you could try some detail spray then clay and an IPA wipedown?

I've already tried respraying over the spot and that didn't work. Spraying the entire side skirt isn't an option as it would be too challenging to avoid overspray onto other panels and thus spreading the problem.

Really my best option is stripping the spray from the side skirt and reapplying to a clean base, I just haven't found anything that will remove it.

Haven't tried claybar but will tomorrow.

IPA should most definitely remove it, although it may take more than one wipedown.

I had the exact same problem happen to me and it was very difficult to remove. I ended up using machine polishing to remove it. You are absolutely correct in stating that you must be very careful with overspray when using the quick sealant.

Here's a suggestion for the Adams crew: how about a liquid form of quick sealant that you apply with an applicator? This would eliminate the overspray issue.

I would love to a see a liquid sealant that can be applied by hand really.

Being a rookie to the detail game, I'm not sure what IPA is! And would I need to use a machine to polish/achieve the desired effect or can it be done by hand? I'd rather not buy the whole machine if I don't have to

And yeah, a liquid sealant, similar to the glass sealant, would be cool. I guess in the meantime, from now on, I will spray the applicator itself and spread rather than spray the car.

IPA , isopropyl alcohol or, india pale ale. Both would work but I wouldn't waste the beer.

Its a good idea in theory, but the product has to be an aerosol to do what it does. Its a 2 part chemical thats kept under compression.

I am working on a few other sealant products currently (non-aerosol) but QS pretty much has to be an aerosol. It was the only way we could get proper atomization and mixture of the product.

Is there a website where we can be kept aware of what products you guys are working on as they are in development? Maybe kept somewhere in your forums and I just don't know?

Blackfire has a couple of sealants you can apply by hand. I am using the Wet Diamond Paint Protection Sealant on my car and really like it.

They also have the Crystal Seal Sealant, it comes in a pump spray bottle and you apply it with a microfiber pad.
