Working in Houston in an office building repairing the HVAC. The entire building was hot but nobody cared as they we were all riveted to the TV.
NEVER FORGET AMERICA! Keep our Military strong and our brave heroes honored. Those cowards attacked our civilians.....nothing lower. RIP to all those murdered on that horrible day. |

I was on a temporary job assignment in Livermore CA. My wife in South Carolina and I had just discovered Instant Messaging and she was IM'ing me at 6:15am pdt as I arrived at work...the news spread quickly and we were all sent home from Livermore Lab...of course I was marooned there for a few weeks or whatever it was before airlines resumed.

At school in the 8th grade. Our school never even told us I remember ending up finding out on the bus from a high schooler at the time I remember not really understanding and knowing what he was talking about I thought he was just busting my chops until I had walked in the door of my house at around 2:20 and put the tv on then I was in shock.

I was in my office at 2 Penn Plaza (Midtown) about 1/2 mile away with a direct view of the towers, unfortunately I got to see everything from an eagles eye view.
I had friends and family that both died and made it out of the towers that tragic day. Truly the saddest day of my life, however I've never seen people come together like NY'ers came together that day. |

I was in 11th grade in Meterology class, when a student ran down the hallway screaming for everyone to turn on their tv's, a plane just flew into the world trade center. We sat in the same classroom for hours glued to the tv, never exchanging classes until lunch.

Got woken up by my sister, after a night of drinking with my brother only to confused by what i was watching on TV. Four days later i had my traveling orders changed to Cali.Three years and six months after the initial attack , i found myself over seas in Mosul. You dont have to support the war efforts but do support the men and woman wearing the uniform, who have paid the ultimate cost.

Starting my firefighting career! was in school for first responder, then one of the guys in class said in the middle of class that a plane hit the world trade center, then class continued then he said another one hit! so the tv was turned on and it hit the fan! my first thought was, fdny has to go in after those people! then they started to fall and we all we saying oh god! they are in there! had no doubt or question about my career, i knew the dangers that come along with this job. never forgotten!

When it all came about, I was in a class at my workplace in Lexington, KY covering some new software we were rolling out. We had taken a break and I hopped out to Fox and CNN and was slammed with the pictures. I yelled out to everyone (class of 15 or so) to log in and look.
Later that afternoon my wife and I had a doctor's appt. for our 1st ultrasound of our son that was born in March, 2002. All the while in the waiting room people were just watching the television in awe, just dumbstruck as to the events as they were occurring. My day was filled with emotion. I felt completely drained after the horror and sadness for the people of NYC...the fear, anger, and confusion over who would do that act...as well as the joy and happiness of seeing my son in my wife's belly. I was truly spent. |

I was sitting in my 2nd grade class and we heard an announcement to turn on the tv to the news and we ended up getting an early dismissal

I was in my Sophomore year in high school in my Biology class. I don't remember doing much that day other than watching the news. I do remember the school being on high alert as the Duke Power Nuclear power plant was just 5 miles away.

I was working in a building across the street from the Sears Tower in Chicago. I remember looking out the window and seeing people running in all directions away from the Sears Tower. Took me over 6 hours to get a train out of the city that day.

Now retired from a 34 year career in the fire service, we were in the station watching in amazement. Some of our members were part of a MI contingent that traveled to NY to assist with the aftermath.
