Was a freshman in college and was heading to class when the first tower was hit.
I signed up in the Navy the following day.

I was in a Special Operations unit at Ft. Campbell, in the gym, on a treadmill when my beeper went off.

5th Grade. Couldnt understand why all the kids were being called over the PA system for their parents to pick them up suddenly. Even at that age, things were surreal after getting home and turning on the news...

I was driving a Frito-Lay route truck headed back to the warehouse when I heard that the 1st tower was hit. Got back to find everyone that had made it back was upstairs watching a 13in TV. Sat there for 2 hours before loading my truck for Thursday as I was off on Wed. Went home turned the TV on and sat in front of it watching the news till bedtime Wed night. Had a horrible boss come to town that Fri and write up over 15 drivers for market conditions, I'll never forget that day or that week. And to that POS boss I'd like to kick his A$$ still today for that.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!
GOD BLESS THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES THAT DAY
GOD BLESS THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO FIGHT FOR ALL OF OUR FREEDOM!!!

College student at my internship. Guys came in saying a plane hit a bldg in NY. Instantly jumped online and most sites were so bogged down. Called my girlfriend (now wife) she was waiting to go to class watching she gave me some updates which I passed along to others.

The one thing I will never forget living in NW Indiana being in the flight path to ohare airport was the eerie silence of no planes flying. Every once in awhile you could hear a military jet flying/patrolling.

My uncle was actually on a plane to Vegas for a trade show. They were diverted to Colorado. They were told about people takin over planes, can't even imagine how scary that would have been

wow, 12 years ago I was 8 years old. I remember hearing about it when I was in school (I was in 3rd grade, I think). I came home on the bus and opened the door and there was a video of a person on fire jumping out of one of the buildings and my mother was watching and crying.

Very dark day. I'm sure I didn't fully understand what exactly was going on at the time because I was so young, but I definitely do remember that day vividly.

I was at work. Got got to work early that day. One of my co-workers walked in and told us that a plane had hit the World Trade Tower. This worker was the type that told stories so we did not believe him. I tried to get on the internet could not get to CNN. I went out to my car where I had a small portable TV and the sight that I saw horrified me. This was one of the worst days in my life. I will never forget this day and all the people that we lost.

First thing I noticed about that morning was that it was overcast with a light drizzle. Rain is rare in Reno.

Second thing was that our dogs and the neighbor's dogs were causing an absolute ruckus at around 6:30 ( 9:30 eastern ). I had to go out several times and tell them to settle down so I could sleep.

I was in college at the time, so I was frustrated at being woken up earlier than necessary. When I finally did get up for the day, I did my usual thing of going to MSNBC to read news while I got ready. I was in absolute shock and stayed home from class that day, saddened and unable to stop watching. I combed news sites and YouTube as I tried to grasp the tragedy I was witnessing.

I distinctly remember the scream of the second airplane's engines in videos taken by people on the ground near the towers. To this day it is stuck in my head. I remember when the air traffic started up again... they seemed so much louder after the days of quiet skies. I remember for several month I dreamt of the planes crashing. If one took off while I was asleep and it was really loud, I would jolt awake and look out my window to make sure it was still airborne.

To this day I am still deeply saddened. My heart goes out to those of you who lost friends and loved ones. My steadfast admiration and gratitude goes out to those of you - including a very good high school friend of mine - who served your country in the troubled years after.

Let me start by saying. God bless America, the greatest nation in the world. Second, offer condolences for those who perished on 9/11 and those who lost loved ones. Third, again God bless the United States military, NYC fireman and NYC police department for their heroics and courage.

But to answer your question. I was 15 minutes away when the planes hit. At home in bed. However, two months before my girlfriend and I were on a date and we decided to go to the Twin Tower observation deck.

6th grade, standing at my locker after math class when my friend allision told me. Didn't know what to think of it at the time, but I remember it in such vivid detail it breaks my heart. I can honestly say I understand when people say you will never forget tragedy. Kind of how my grandfather told me where he was when pearl harbor was attacked, you could see the hurt in his eyes recalling a day that his nation was attacked.

I was working on a workover rig doing a rod and tubing job on an oil well just outside of my town. Every time I pass that well no matter what month it is it reminds me of that day.
