People are clueless as to what a Camaro costs, I got our 1LT for less than $24 grand. What do all those riceburner crap cars cost??? You choose what you want to drive!!

Comments like what you were on the receiving end of would have rubbed me the wrong way too - at any age.

"My life is my choices, my car is one of those choices, and you'll just have to live with it" is about what they'd hear from me. No way in hell would they hear anything that sounded like an apology. Feel free to forward.

Wishing you and yours the best.

If you work hard to obtain a Camaro you very well deserve it. Being a senior citizen I don't get those comments, but I always tell people I am spending my kids inheritance. Enjoy every minute of your life.

“Privileged middle class”? What does that even mean…. When I hear “Privileged” I think of a kid with very rich parents (not middle class), rich enough to buy a car much nicer than a Camaro. Chances are the person calling you this is envious of what you have, but I wouldn’t call anyone with a Camaro privileged.

Last time I looked the fender read Camaro. It doesn't say Porsche, BMW or Mecedes Benz. These Camaro's don't have a high price tag compared to others. Excellent value for the money! The uneducated are always talking crap! Next time someone comments to you just smile and wave. Some people can be such dousche bags!

I was asked if I was having an early mid-life crisis! I'm on the downhill slide to 50, but he thought I was in my early 30s.

Cars, boats, snowmobiles, motorcycles, campers.... hell even houses.

Through out my life there have been people that have made comments, but the reality is they don't know my situation... just like i don't theirs.

I actually had a boss who was extemely vocal about my choices... he made more $$ than me, but he had 3 KIDS and a wife who did not work.

So, my wife has a smoking job, I have a smokin job and until 5 years ago we did not have a child.
Whenever someone would give me shit about my choices, my response was..... "I don't have braces, books, clothes, college education or any other kid like expense to worry about, AND that usually shut them up.

We actually named our boat KIDLE$$. It just fit.

Now fast forward 5 years....
I have a daughter
I have a 529 Plan
I have an FSA account
I have Private School tuition
I have daycare bills
I have a Princess Bedroom

I don't have a boat, vette, smowmobiles, motorcylce or manison.....

I have changed my lifestyle.....

AND the camaro is a daily driver
I think this is where people get confused..... I don't spend my DISPOSIBLE income like I used too. But I also mind to my business.

I would hear similar things like this too, but they don't seem to realize that our F250 was priced higher then our car. It seems many people really don't have a clue and/or are jealous. Hard work, a little drive, usually some sacrifices and most things are possible! Like others, I started my young adult years on my own and it was difficult to make it some weeks. I decided then that goals, a positive outlook and hard work was my answer. Life is good and it's working for me.
