gears vs stall

i have 3.45 gears on my l99..love it.

thinking of a stall 3000 or 3200. or giving it more gear 3.91s

I am staying naturally aspirated. I heard that cars with higher stalls are not as responsive on throttle.

any input would help. thanks

you wanna drag race and kick butt or street drive it and rip tires?
big stall triple disc if you want to drag it...3500+. Street, more gear and maybe a bit smaller converter 3-3200.
Really, bigger stalls are just more loose on the throttle. The car is still responsive...but the point the car 'moves' is further up the tach.

Do you have plans on cam? If so I'd wait on stall till cam so that you get the right size for the cam you choose.

if yoy want to blip the throttle and blow through some tires...get 3.91s. It's fun.
With 3.70s and a 3600 stall, I can sit still with an aggressive drop on the hammer. .

Stator of the torque converter really determines the driveability, I would talk directly to someone at like Circle D for a recommendation based on your desires as people's opinions can be very subjective. Gears combined with a stall will "hide" some of the slippage, have you ever driven a stalled auto before?

3600 Triple Disc Circle D and currently 3.45 gears and I love it. Drives great on the street and still very responsive. You have to understand tho, it has a totally different feel than the stock converter.
One of my favorite mods to date.

I recommend driving/riding in one, to see how you like it. The 1st gear in the 6L80 is a 4.0 combined with the 3.45 rear isn't short on gear even given a tall tire in the rear. The converter will allow the engine to flash to it's powerband quicker, both multiply the torque the gears just cause the rpms to climb faster. The converter will make the car slightly faster than the gears from a dig if running sticky tires to harness the extra power converted. Gears will continue to help the car accelerate faster once moving. What are your goals exacty?
