I would imagine that makes a lot of noise and you'd have to do it 20 times if you have the Gorilla locking lug nut set to steal all four wheels. I think that would take too long for an amateur thief(thieves)

By gorilla locking nuts do you guys mean the ones that are similar to an 8 or 9 point slotted type?

I have those but added a McGard keyed type on each wheel - seems the McGard cannot be defeated too easily.

I have a Viper but couldn't tell you what model it is. I paid a little xtra for the 2 way remote that will make a beeping sound when the alarm is going off. It also has little icons on the remote to tell you what it is beeping specifically for.

I would love a two way remote.

InfernoOrangeSS and any one else in the same circumstances, search eBay for some one selling the same style rims with tires on them. Where I work we had people stealing laptops and machined parts then selling them on eBay and that is how we caught them.

I believe the Lo-Jack system also can alert you when your car is being messed with, as well as find it if it is stolen. Not fool-proof, but better then nothing and lets you sleep at night. I ended up NOT getting it because my car is parked inside my garage all the time in a decent neighborhood. If I had to park it outside, I would have something to help protect it.

Trusting the Gorillas on mine. Even after hearing that another member posted about having (I think) a full set and the scumbag thief managed to still get all 4 wheels.

I would only guess a really stupid scumbag thief would carry 20 sockets of the right size to hammer onto a Gorilla lug, along with a 16 oz sledge and something to jack up and hold the car up after the deed. So much effort for such little profit. Guess any dollar in their pocket is worth all that s%&t. No wonder people want a fair wage at McDs!

Sorry for your loss. At least the Mobster insurance came through with replacements.
Mike

I will try to keep my tale of woe short. 3 weeks ago on a Friday night, I park my beloved Camaro SS/RS in the parking lot of our apts. My wife and I took our dogs for a walk and were back inside about 8:00pm. We both had to work the next day and got up early and were ready around 6:30am. When we get down to our cars in the communal area out in front of our building, we notice that some POS has jacked up the back of my car. They have stolen the back two tires and rims, and left the car sitting on two big rocks placed under the rocker panels.
Needless to say, I was shocked, outraged, and hurt all at once. I called the police and my insurance. Police came and took a report. (Evidently, a Mustang had the same thing happen the night before at these apts.). My insurance took care of having the car towed to the dealership where they replaced the back tires and two rocker panels. (Total cost was nearly $5,000! I was only out $500 deductable. I was also without my car for two weeks waiting on specific parts.). I have her back now and she's as good as ever. I invested in 4 locking lug nuts. I put one on each wheel. I still feel pissed that people will do things like this, but realize ultimately there is nothing I can do. The reason we live here is because it's such a nice and quiet area. In 6 years living here, we've never had any trouble at all. Our apt faces away from the parking area, so there's no way I could have heard/seen anything.
I have some pics of the damage, but I thought I would spare anyone the trauma of seeing a Camaro with her back tires stolen and rocker panels damaged.
Anyway...that's my tale of woe.
Sad to learn about the theft and vandalism, we all know this goes on coast-to-coast. A second set of locking lugs per wheel will definitely make the average junkie-thief steal elsewhere. These types seem to like a quick score.

Maybe purchase a few different types of locking lugs, putting a couple of each type on each wheel, and keeping the unlock keys on a key ring somewhere? That way, even if a thief has one type of key, the odds of them having every type you have on will be drastically reduced. Just a thought from a tired insomniac.

I have the LS, I figure if a thief wants my steelies, they can have them..

Seriously though, I don't worry too much about locking those plain jane wheels of mine. Probably about the only upside to them I suppose. Good luck to everyone with locking yours, and sorry to hear yours got jacked OP.

I guess I never realized that the alarm system did not go off when the car was "jostled". I assumed that all modern cars would alarm if locked and someone moved it very much.
