From what I remember reading on GMs website, starting in 2012 the Camaro was the first car to get 5 stars on the new safety rating system. I'll have to look for the link.

So glad your friend is ok! So sad about the beautiful car. What a waste.. But what a lifesaver as well!

Indeed...5 stars all around...pretty amazing and not something people would normally associate with a muscle car...

While other vehicles have earned an overall NHTSA 5-Star Safety Rating, the Camaro was the first to score a perfect five-star rating in all six test categories. Those include frontal barrier crash test ratings for the driver and passenger, side crash ratings for the driver and passenger, a rollover rating and the vehicle's overall rating.
And the pic at the above link of the crash test Camaro is so sad to look at...boy do I love my car...lol

It's prettymuch what I would expect from 2 tons of Detroit iron. 'Murica.

Walked away from a 60mph driver's side impact, that says alot about the safety of the 5th gen.

Same here -This was my first Camaro. My brother was driving. His only injury - a slightly banged up knee that required a brace for a while.

My 2013 LS is my 4th Camaro, and I have say that, of all the cars I have owned or driven, I feel safer in this one than all the others.

If the brakes, power, and handling can't keep me out of an accident, the car will do great job protecting me.

That is terrible about his 1LE. Really glad he was able to walk away. Hope hte drunk driver gets more than the usual slap on the wrist and that your friend has a brand new 1LE very soon.
