I have a feeling you're right. I just installed my Apex can and plan on throwing my RX unit on here for a few bucks.

Here's a couple of mine installed....

Looks good...you desperately need to relocate those coolant hoses though.

Yeah, you're not wrong. Damn things should have never been there in the first place!

If it was offered in painted GM colors, I'd be all over this!
Unfortunately, I'm on the looooong waiting list for an IOM Rx catch can.

Nice write up though. It does look like a really nice piece.
One of these days evolution will kick in and that third arm will pop out of our chests.

Thank you. We are aware that this bracket set up will not work with all configurations but if there is a one size fits all solution we couldn't come up with it. We are working on covering all the stock configurations and then we will work on some of the aftermarket situations.

Below is a picture of what it has caught after 233 miles on my car. I am quite pleased with this product and level of detail / craftsmanship that went into the product.
Thanks Jeremy. We appreciate the feedback.

The oil collects in the bottom of the can and you just unscrew the bottom and it acts as a cup. Then you just dump it.

My SS has about 6k on it, so hopefully not too much buildup has occurred yet.

We knew that would be a deal breaker for some customers but it added a layer of complexity to production that we felt would create more headaches than sales. We do plan to offer it bare in the future so that the customer can paint it to match. And who knows, perhaps another vendor will start carrying them and painting them to match.

Other than the mount bracket how is this different than the Elite catch can? I would be more impressed if it didn't look like a direct copy. It's the design engineer in me, I hate it when a competitor copies one of my designs. I know if it isn't patented then it's legal but still....

How is it a copy? It's a cylinder...how many different ways can you make a cylinder? The bracket, the size, the build, the hoses, the color, and the lack of the tacky inscription on the Elite. What is similar other than being able to twist off the bottom rather than messing with a valve?

If nothing else, I can tell you this can is larger than the Elite can.

Even if they were completely identical I would still have chosen the Apex can because it doesn't have the awful lettering on top of the can. I understand the need for branding but location is awful.

At the end of the day a greater portion will come down to supporting one of the most active vendors and contributors to this forum as well. That alone makes the can worth it.

It is a machined billet aluminum catch can with a screw off bottom like the Elite so I can understand how they may look visually similar. Below is a side-by-side exterior comparison. As you can immediately see, there are significant differences dimensionally and volumetrically.

I can't compare them internally because the Elite can not be disassembled so I don't know exactly what is going on in the upper portion of their can. You can see from the photo that the functional portion of the Elite only occupies the top third of the catch can where ours occupies the top two thirds. I can say that from day 1 we set out to design a catch can that exceeded the performance and quality of those currently on the market and the engineering team we worked with did exactly that.

Beyond that the designs are very different. The Apex Motorsports Catch Can has a couple very unique features that set it apart from all other systems. If you wish to clean your Apex Motorsports Catch Can it can be completely disassembled and the filter media can be replaced. This ensure a longer service life that other catch cans. The most interesting feature of our catch can is that it has three outlet ports so it can be configured however you need it. All hardware needed for a single outlet install is included and the option to add an extra outlet fitting for FI applications that require dual outlets is available. You can utilize any of the three outlets for a custom installation for your application. Hex head plugs are included to cap off outlets not in use.

Speaking of patents, the Apex Motorsports catch can is patent pending.
Thanks for the explanation and the pictures. I agree, when seen together it doesn't look like a copy. Good luck with your new product.
