I can't dry my car... :o\

Hey guys, just bought my first camaro 2014 2LT Convertible (actually have had it for a month now, but haven't gotten around to posting it).

I've been meaning to do a good photo shoot for my new baby, but I've tried to wash it twice now and I can't seem to dry it. I know, it sounds weird but I've tried two different chamois and it just smears the water and is leaving water spots/smears all over the car! I've washed several cars by hand before using the same chamois (Absorber) and I've never had this problem. I'm wondering if it's because it's new and if the protective coating (Perma Plate?) they put on at the dealership is causing it. I'm ready to just pay to take it to a professional detailer, but wanted to see if I could get any advice here.

Please help me so I can do a well over due photo shoot for my baby!

You should have never let your dealer apply anything.

But as for what to do now, try to put a coat of wax on it and see if that helps.

Maybe the dealer applied it as an add on to jack up the price, anyway see if it can be stripped with a dawn wash or any of the other numerous strip wash products available. You should start with a clean surface clay, wash, polish and seal or wax.All you need to know is in this section.

I Agree also I would never let a dealer apply anything to a new car.I dont even let them wash it when I buy it or if it is in for service.

Have you tried any of the microfiber drying towels on the market?

Also - use the sheeting method to get most of the water off before you even get out the drying towels

Dry the car the best you can then go back over the entire car with detailing spray and a GOOD microfiber towel.

The chamois is great. Try going over the car with a rubber sgueegie first. It removes most of the water and then you go over it with the chamois and it's dry. Don't buy compressor. No offense, but as great of an idea it is, you can do the same thing with a $30 shop-vac. Def. go over it with detailing spray and a good microfiber.

I bought a Dry Me Crazy towel after reading CD07's review. I laid it on the roof and it just about sucked the water out of the lug nut holes! It's THAT good. Pulls water like nothing I've seen. Those blue MF towels are sweet too.

Do not use a Chamois. That's an old school way of putting swirls in your paint. Like others have said, use a quality microfiber towel with a good detail spray. I usually use two every time I wash mine. one to get the really wet off and then a dry one with detail spray to finish.
