Glad to see the closeout Blizzaks are back. I just placed an order for 4 245/45R20s. Thanks for getting them back in.

On average how long should they last? At least 5 winters?

I run my Blizzaks late November to the end of March. Going on my 4th winter and they still look brand new.

Can't say the same for the Pirellis but I don't do burnouts on the Blizzaks

There's no issues running a 245 of the stock rear rim? That's a pretty small tire. I mean I'm all about skinny tires in the snow but I just wanna make sure.

245's will work on the rear 9 inch stock wheel no problem.

They should normally last 4-5 seasons for the Blizzak LM60 as long as you do not drive really aggresive.

I read this entire thread doing my lunch hour and it's been VERY informative. I drove my Camaro in the winter last year and I couldn't even get up my angled driveway the first time. Got to love winters in Chicago. After debating for month, I decided against getting a second beater car and give the winter another go.

I currently drive a 2LT/RS Camaro and have had my eyes on the Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow tires, but I'm still deciding on what kinds to get. I've seen posts about having all tires having the same width, some posts saying whether to get smaller diameters, etc.

As a mechanical engineer, I know a lot about how the car works on the INSIDE. I was wondering if you could give me some direction on what can help best against the brutal Chicago winters. I plan to order this week.

Welcome to Camaro 5. Are you looking for just tires to fit your factory wheels? If so yes the Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow are the best way to go. You can also downsize your wheels to 17 or 18 inch for winter. This improves snow performance even more.

heres a question for you about snow tires. what about when theres no snow on the roads? i was always told that snow tires wear out really fast when its dry. is that true? i only ask because i live in southern Maryland..not expecting a lot of snow. that, and my family is all up in NY so id be driving up there for Christmas and whatever else comes up. so id be driving like 300 or so miles one way in what i would assume would be dry roads (hopefully).

Hey there - I have a 2LT RS with staggered 20" wheels. I got a set of 18" heritage steelies on craigslist (virtually new) with the beauty rings and center caps for just over $200. I bought the TPMS sensors and had the wheels installed with a set of Michelin X-ice xi3 tires (255/60/18). It is a great set up and your car will perform A LOT better than with 20" winters. It will save your summer rims and save you money in the long run over 20" winter tires. Honestly, stay away from 20" winters in Chicago! Best of luck. Here's what my vehicle looks like with the winters - I'm very happy with the set up!

Hey. I've read the last few pages of this thread but I'm still not sure which tires to get. I have a 2014 LT RS however I bought 18" steel wheels from the LS online. The Goodyear Ultra Grips seem pretty nice but I've seen mixed reviews online. I also looked at Blizzaks which seem like a good pick. The Pirelli Scorpion snow tires seem to get good reviews but they're spendy. Are they worth the extra money? What's the best bang for buck for 18" winter tires?

You could get by on the Goodyears but the Blizzaks have superior Ice and Snow grip. I would go with the Blizzaks!
