I am fully convinced that there will be a Z/28 or Z28 in the next gen car.

Only because by Z we mean "road track star" and anything smaller and lighter will only make that more apt to happen.

Now what powertrain might it have? Who knows. But I believe there will be a track focused version of any next gen Camaro.

I could definitely live with a 327 for the SS. As far as styling goes I think all the 5th gen morph renders are way off. I would like to see a 70% modern/30% 2nd gen influence but I think something completely different from anything we've seen is on the way. I think V6 performance on the hopefully lighter platform is something to look foward to. I'm hoping GM sees the V6 Camaro as being worthy of a factory available handling package. If sales success continues into the sixth gen that gives us a better chance for the high performance models we were blessed with this generation.

I don't think a 5.3 for the SS would be a smart decision. If the GT keeps the 5.0, let alone gets a 5.0 upgraded with direct injection, the SS would be left in the dust.

Pretty sure it's a done deal that the 6th Gen SS will have a 450hp LT-1 engine....

They may not use the 5.3 but you can never count out an SBC. I can't remember an SS stock for stock being left in the dust by a Mustang. I also assume that any next gen V8 put in the Camaro would have similar technology to the LT1.

There will be a 6Gen Z/28 or Z28. It may be delayed 1 year from the 6Gen debut, but no more. I agree, with the success of the C7 the 6Gen Camaro will be a leap forward.

Thanks to Mrs. Number 3. Married 15 years ago today. Not sure how she does it. Must be some hidden redeeming qualities in there somewhere. I just have no idea where or what they are.

A 5.3 LT with the same power density as the LT1 would be 390-400 HP and the 5.0 is already 420 HP. With DI and other upgrades, who knows where it could end up.

The current Z/28 is so far beyond any other Camaro in many of the materials used.... I can't see how you turn back from that. Moving forward the Z will have to be an elite offering... and that badge may now be forever beyond the reach of the common enthusiast. Great to have the trickle down parts but sad we won't see these on the streets.
