and i do have a 25,000 dollar Harley and getting a sport bike so i'm not a stereotypical biker but yeah my point is i've been around them fought them, talked shit to them, and partied with them so yeah there not all bad. don't be so scared of them most of them are great people that do great things
Out of all the cars I have built, I havent had to mess with the computers in them. So why would I need to know if for one I do not have a T/C or S/C in any of mine, and for two I just use premium gasoline so why does that even matter. I can love to race without knowing what they sound or smell like. I race what I bring and go up against whoever lines up next to me. I don't care what they have, but I will ask them if I need to which is what I did but they guy I raced acted like an ass. So I thought I could get the info here. I swear the Ford guys on here were right when they said this site was for all the haters.

all i meant was if you enjoy racing as you clearly do i would figure that you may have spent some time at a track or hanging out with your buddies and bs'ed over cars and picked up on those little things

its just stuff you will learn over time and by being around that world

thats all i was trying to say

It had a more gassy smell but was alot stronger than typical gas. Also seemed to smell like lighter fluid a little, almost like propane. It was strong enough to fill my car with the window down. Almost though if you lit a lighter it could start a fire.

Sounds like it was a SS/SC with a stock downpipe, GM Stage 2 with the cat over temp kicking in, which (I dunno if you know) keeps the cats from melting when EGT(exhaust gas temps) get really hot...car will get STUPID rich to keep the cats from going bye bye.

Stock SS/TC's will have an ammonia smell to em when they are stock. They use a different type of fuel delivery, gasoline direct injection. Think diesel, only with gasoline. This allows the car to run even leaner AFR's. From the factory, at WOT they run close to a 13:1 AFR under full boost.

Pretty sure your GTI is GDI IIRC.

So would he have been able to keep racing? Or was this because his car was having too much trouble keeping up? Or was it working too hard/ putting too much strain on his car? And I am really sorry about all that crap earlier man. I know you are just trying to help. Just going through alot of crap with this deployment stuff and I took it wrong.

The SS/SC's have issues with heat soaking like a bitch because of the nature of a root's blower. With it hitting COT, not only was it running pig(er rich than a GMS2 tune normally would), it starts to retard timing after a certain intake air temperature(IAT) was reached in the manifold post supercharger(this temperature is referred to as IAT2) to prevent knock.

It coulda kept on going, it would have just getting slower and slower, and a GMS2 SS/SC is about as fast as a stock SS/TC...the FASTEST times are 13.5ish with traps of 104...generally slower than Camaro SS's.

Ummmm, I raced an older Camaro and a R/T Charger. But those weren't really that close. I'm guessing they were stock too. The Cobalt shocked me at how quick it was. I have raced several Mustang GTs before and an SRT-8 Challenger. Mustangs were easy to beat, but the Chally was pretty close with me like a nose or so ahead.

So would it be quicker than a Camaro SS, say in like a 40 or 50 MPH roll?

40-50 roll is a Cobalt's SWEET SPOT.

They have monster long gears too, they trap the 1/4 in 3rd.

Honestly an auto SS would have it's hands full with a custom tuned SS/SC with 60 pound injectors and a 2.8" supercharger pulley.

The average tuned SS/TC is trapping 110. The ones who have no sense and want to break stuff push em to 116 with mild bolt ons.

Which stock Camaro SS loses there. From a dig it will depend on the Cobalt driver and a little luck because RWD>FWD there.

But the sincerely fast Cobalts are few and far between.
