I decided to pull the trigger and do the 416 stroker after reading a few threads from CC Performance, i already have a maggie so i am looking for 700+hp.

Wish i could have given you my business CC Performance but the shipping from Canada would have killed me.

The stroker is the best way to go. No doubt. Saving right now for it.
Heads, cam, intake for me, then order short block. I'll be stuck n/a since my 79 Z had a 427 in it by the time I was done. This will have to be a 427 build, and building one for boost is out of my range.
CC Performance says it like it is and is great at explaining options.

416 no contest.... Theres only so far you can go on the stock motor.... Then your back to square 1... I'd start from the weak link and build up... Even if I get tired of that 416 in 3 or 4 years I can always add more to it by boosting it and I can put more boost to it.

416 hands down. The high risk of doing harm to a stock engine with a blower and has not had the internals upgraded is too much of a gamble for me.

What are the advantages of your setup compared to buying an LSX long block for $5500? The LSX setup seems like a pretty tough deal to beat.

The LSX crate engine is no different really than the engine already in the car already.. Its a mass production motor, it is not built with the same internals we use or the same precision. Its also an iron block and will be heavier on the nose of the car and effect performance. We will make more power, better throttle response than a crate engine any day of the week. Precision built race engine vs off the shelf mass produced. We use better parts and better building technique to be honest... than a gm crate engine.

I say blower. Personally because I have always wanted a top mount blower like the old school cars. To me, its just the epitomy of having a bad ass muscle car. Thats why I will put the blower on and wont push the limit so that i can make the motor last as long as possible(or at least till I pay it off) After that I will go with a full built motor to handle whatever boost I throw at it.

I went with boost first, and realized with no forged internals no point in paying huge dollars and not being able to use SC to capacity.
I'm going with the 427ci. LSX iron block (not the crate engine) bored to precision w/ all forged internals at a 9.1:1 compression and a D-1SC ProCharger. Perfect balance of strength, displacement, and boost. The iron block is only 60lbs. heavier which can be compensated with the good suspension parts I already have.
To me that's good logical trade off between weight, strength, performance and safety.

When I do decide to get this involved with power modifications I am definitely going with a 416. If I decide to boost later I know it will be able to handle what I throw at it.

Its really your decision... If you want n/a hp, bore it out to a 427, do heads/cam, do a 373 rear end and boltons.. Will put you around 600rwhp and be very fast, it would beat an eforce at the same hp for sure + naturally aspirated hp is extremely safe and a would be better for resale... If you go with stock block and s/c there's much more of a risk of engine damage. Also take into account the wear and tear, the s/c maintenance, high IAT's of a top mount set up..refill on meth if you go that route...honestly IMO I'd do a forged 416 with a centrifugal s/c... OR if your dead set on just a s/c a centrifugal s/c is the way to go, the power is there when you want it but your not always in boost, you could daily drive it, it's very reliable, it looks very nice on the engine bay, sounds incredible and pulls VERY hard. Without meth the 600rwhp or less would be very safe. A company that is local to me that builds ALOT of cars from around the country is Lethal Racing,( lafayette, la) they have done everything to my car from gauges, engine work, suspension and everything in between. Great customer service and extremely smart guys. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
