head unit install

i am going to be replacing my stock head unit with a double din head unit and metra kit within the week. i will be doing the install with one of my friends. i was just wondering if it is a difficult install, any advice, tips or tricks, anything you found difficult, any advice you guys give will be helpful! thank you in advance

Follow the instructions carefully. You can do most of the wire splicing before you take your stock head unit out (assuming your kit includes the right harnesses that allow for a simple plug and play). Some say that you don't have to remove the entire center console to do the install. I, myself, didn't remove it when I pulled the stock head unit out, but ended up removing it after I couldn't get the new metra kit in without scratching up the gear shift plate/cover.

I used the Scoshe kit for install. I did all of the splicing om table. The only thing I to hook up in the car was the power and ground wire. I can not say if that is true for the Metra but you should be able connect most of the wiring away from the car.
I just removed the console cover it not hard since you do not have the gauge pak.

quick question... how did you guys hook up the new head unit you purchased to the rear speakers? im trying something out right now but if that doesnt work, just wanted to know what you did

got the rear speakers to work now the steering wheel controls and aux do not work.... suggestions anyone?

Did your kit include a steering wheel control interface. Something like a Maestro IDatalink or AXXESS ASWC-1?

i got everything to work! i am now just missing the mounting bracket that physically goes on the head unit, i should be all set other than that
