Not sure what your winter is like, I am in Seattle area, but...
I got my Camaro last September and ran the Pirellis all winter. I probably did OK since they were new, and we didn't have any snow. If the roads get too bad, I always had the option of working from home, or taking my wife's Forrester. I am going to be getting new tires really soon since I have 28k on them now. I don't think they will survive winter when it really kicks in around January. People around here tend to get the Continental DWS. I have had 3 dealerships recommend those to me as well. That's what I will be getting when the times comes. About $1100 installed.

My Pirellis SUUUUUUUUUCKED even when it was a little moist out. Doesn't help that we have 400+ horsepower. My previous Camaro, the winter before last, I think, got stuck on a hill when we had snow. I couldn't drive it home, so I had to back it into a parking lot and leave it there overnight. :( I never replaced the tires on that one.
This time, I got my Conti DWS and never looked back! They are seriously amazing. The Pirellis would even break loose in the dry occasionally, but they were getting low on tread by the time I replaced them. It's almost scary how well the DWS stick. Do it!

. Yes they are. Anywhere from 1000 to 1100 installed. I have to order them it takes about 2 weeks. They have a 60 k warranty . Our stock pirelli have none and have heard they average between 15 and 20 k.

I have them on my ZL1 now. 275/40 front and 315/35 rear. The rear is a little bigger than I want, but okay. Suppose I need to meet up with you so you can check em out.

I got the Continental DWS also when I couldn't get my LT up a slick driveway in the rain. Sat there just spining with the Pirellis. I love the Continentals. I drive my car daily and no problems with traction.
