Hi everyone, first post here but have been reading for a while. I'm in a similar situation...I want one now but I'm working on two car payments so that isn't going to happen. Luckily, my car will be paid off soonish, and my wife's maybe a year after that, but I'm probably looking at at least two years before they payments are done
After years of driving underpowered 4-cylinder cars though, I'll appreciate it all the more!I'll probably be hanging onto my Scion, returning it mostly to stock, and delegating it to beater/winter car status once I get my Camaro. I want my next car to be something that I can keep until it is a classic...my dad is in a Chevelle club (he has a built '71 SS...the thing is a beast,) and there are several guys there that are the original owners of their cars. I want to be one of those guys eventually. |

I am planning to order a 1LT/RS this weekend, and I'll be trading in my '05 F-150 Supercrew Lariat with 88k. I've been researching for a couple weeks, and the offers on my trade vary wildly, and so does the price of the car.
On the truck- worst is $11k from Carmax. Best is $16k at a dealer 1.5 hrs away. The car- worst wants +$3k to order. Most will order for sticker. I'll probably go to one of two dealers that are offering me $15k and $15.5k and ordering for sticker. Just don't forget, when you trade you only pay sales tax on the car minus the trade. That means I would have to sell it for $1200 more than the best trade offer. And selling isn't easy right now. I listed on craigslist on lunch yesterday and there were 1400 more listings in Chicago by midnight. |
