NTTA Irritation
So a little background-
I was in Texas for grad school up until this past May. As you guys know, the NTTA took away toll booths and replaced it with ZipCash. My car was registered out of state, I didn't have a TollTag and I was not getting toll bills in the mail. I called several times and they told me they had nothing for my license plate, so I forgot about it. Bottom line, I wasn't trying to take advantage of the system, but if they can't bill appropriately, I'm not gonna argue, ya know? Fast forward to today: I have now moved back to Michigan, have not lived in Texas since May and got two bills in the mail today for $300, with tolls dating back to Jan 2012. Now, I'm not arguing that I owe the money- I drove the roads and I pay my debts. I just feel it is pretty crappy business to tell me I owe nothing for years and then slam me with a bill all at once. $20 here and there is a lot easier than $300 for me right before the holiday season. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? I'm just more irritated than anything because I tried to do the right thing and now I'm paying for their mistake. And to add insult to injury, it will not let me log in on the website to pay, so now I have to call and deal with them.
