It said 2008 CTS-V...No such thing, 07 had the LS2 and the 09 had the LSA. I allways wanted a fast 4-door.

07-09 and 2010 gt500 still look better than the camaro. in my opinion. But keep in mind there is also nostalgic to many people buying the new one.

If I was a GT500 owner, I would be embarrassed by this thread.

First of all, please re-watch the video... it states the GT500 beat the Camaro by one tenth of a second (12.8 vs 12.9). Are you kidding me? 540 HP vs 426 HP and it only beat it by one tenth of a second! This is proof that GM is superior to Ford. I showed this video to my buddy who owns a GT500 and he started to cry. LMAO!

NEWS UPDATE: Not everyone who drives a car happens to be able to get the best times. OH NOES IT CLEARLY MEANS THAT THE CAR IS TERRIBLE.

How about you show your friend the 12.3 times done by journalists?

You're missing the point...

On paper, the GT500 should smoke the Camaro SS, but it didn't. It was one tenth of a second faster... embarrassing to say the least.

On paper the Camaro SS will beat a GT. That won't always be the case in the real world. So what?

In the real world a stock 2010 Camaro SS will beat a stock Mustang GT ten times out of ten.

Regardless of all the bickering within this thread, which is a guarenteed to happen given the comparison, it's not really a justified comparison.

They tested the Camaro SS against the Mustang GT. On the product lineup they are equal. Just as the V6 Camaro is the same as the V6 Mustang. That made the Mustang guys cry that the Camaro, equal on the product lineup, was much faster. So they had to bring out the heavily moddified Mustang GT500 out to please the Mustang boys. They were mad about them comparing the 315 HP Mustang GT to the superior 426 HP Camaro; "Not Fair!" they screamed. But it's ok to take a 540 HP Mustang to beat on a lesser HP Camaro.

Is that kind of logic standard equipment on those cars?

On a side note, I find it rather funny that the Mustang GT only has 11 more horsepower than the V6 Camaro.

I don't care if the Mustang GT500 was a full second faster. I would still never buy it. In my opinion the Camaro wins in style factor hands down. And in the end, for a car I will drive all the time on the street, that is more important. 75% of the people buying GT500's will likely never "legally" use the extra horsepower they have over the SS anyway. So what is the point in saying, "This magazine says mine is faster than yours!" Big freakin' deal.

If you want to hang your hopes on one single data point, you are in for a big letdown. At 540HP, the GT500 is capable of low 12's........

I promise I'm not biased, despite the fact that I drive a Mustang myself.

The 2010 GT500 should have beaten the SS by almost a full second. The driver probably does suck.

That being said, it's not really fair to compare a GT500 to a SS. The upcoming (hopefully) Z/28 definitely, but not to a SS. Thanks to the price/power gap, the real comparison is between the SS and the GT, which the Camaro wins by a narrow margin in most of the comparison tests.

The big shootout I'm waiting for is the SS against the new 302. That's going to be awesome.
