Dealer refused to service my vehicle.

I went to the dealer today to have a look at a CEL that I keep getting (Exgf over torqued my gas cap two months ago...had to let her go). As I was walking out of the service station an employee caught up with me to give me my keys back. He then told me that because of my nitrous kit they couldn't go anywhere near it. I knew this would void a warranty (mine was already expired) but I didn't realize I would be refused service?!? Gound Chevy in Nacogdoches, Texas has an amazing service dept and this was a real let down today.

Would they do it if you took the bottles out? I'm guessing its some type of liability issue?

Im sure William from chevy customer service will post on here and help you through the process sometime tomorrow. That does seem slightly weird but I guess I could understand not making the "part changers" touch a nitrous kit.

doesn't surprise me..

I have a buddy that had Chrysler 300c on air bag suspension. dip at the dealer dropped the bags to zero during a test drive after an alignment while the car was moving, no steering and he ended up t-boning another car. totaled the 300c.

now dealer has a policy against any type of service of vehicles with bagged suspension.

I was going to have nitrous installed but after hearing all of the negative stuff about it I ended up going the gear set change to 3.91. I live in Ohio and I heard so many different things about nitrous that I just decided to stop at the highway patrol building and just ask them directly.

In Ohio it's not illegal to have nitrous in your car, however you can't have it connected. So in other words it's not illegal so long as it's not operational. Why have it if you can't use it? I know it's one of those things, no reason you can't use it so long as you don't get caught. People not wanting to work on it is just another negative that makes me glad I didn't spend the money.

Just a question for the OP....how many times have you actually used the nitrous?

The thing is I haven't even filled the bottle yet, and I'm returning the system. I decided to go with a lower rear diff ratio instead and returning the kit would maintain my disposable income for the month (plus I can keep my subwoofer on blast). But they didn't want to hear it. I'm not all angry with them, and I know they're just doing their jobs but wtf?! Once the bottle is out and my new K&N elbow tube is installed to cover the nozzle hole they said they still wouldn't touch it. Sucks to be me I guess.

When they say you can't have it hooked up just means you can't use it on the street not that you can't have it at all. You can still use it at the track or just don't get caught. Easy.

What negatives did you hear from it? Nitrous only goes wrong because the person using it doesn't know anything about it.

I wouldn't go to another dealer. Go to a mechanic. Not a "parts changer."

go to autozone and have them pull the code, then figure out your next step from there.

I'm sure there's a liability for them somewhere. Something happened at some point or another and they don't want to take a chance at something going wrong....possibly again. I don't blame them. There is a lot that could go wrong...and a lot that they could be liable for if something DID go wrong. Nah...not surprised they wouldn't touch it.

Not surprised either, I'm sure it's a cya issue, nothing more nothing less. Put yourself in there shoes, would you take on the responsibility for a customers car if your mechanics didn't have experience with NOS? Myself I'd never take a car with non factory mods to a dealer in the first place expecting them to know or even have a clue as how to work on my car. Not that all dealerships don't have a clue but most are trained on factory equipment not performance mods.

Find a performance shop and let them do what they are good at and correct your issue. There are many Sponsors on this site that fit the bill and will be able to correct your problem and a good shop near you would prove invaluable in the future. Just my .02 cents
