I did my first one at 3000. I now have 5700 and I'll do the next one when the OLM says 30 percent...it now says 57 percent. Or if I hit a year since the last one before that.

It's different today than it was back when your daddy taught you to change it every 3000 no matter what. I was a mechanic for some time...I know what not changing it can do. But today, engines are so much more sophisticated, along with oils. As long as it's not raced or beat on, the OLM is perfect to go by.

Thanks guys/gals for the info. Looks like a pretty wide variety of different opinions but what I really need is how access the percentage my OLM says from the DIC. I tried to schroll through the menu using the stake on the left but I still can't find it!
Can anyone tell me how to????

I respectively must call . I change my oil at 3,000 mile intervals and when I do, the DIC shows between 75% to 77% remaining.

The first time I changed the oil in my 2013 2SS/RS was at 5k miles. The dealership did the first one for free. However, I am a bit paranoid about how I drive my car and what oil they put, so I bought a Elite Engineering catch can and changed the oil and oil filter myself at 10k miles. I use Royal Purple 5w-30 High Performance Oil and I saw a noticeable change in how Royal Purple runs about 5 degrees cooler and takes longer to get all the way up to temperature.

Its never too early as preventive to having a long lasting gunkless engine. It also depends on how you drive. Stop and go traffic and flooring it determines my oil changes before schedule, synth or not.
