Firefighter, what have you done to your car so far? I am a road course guy too and I am just bolt ons (CAI, PTB, LT, HFC, Corsa;400RWHPish) and smoke a lot of guys at the track because of my suspension. I know someone who changed their rockers ratio when they did their cam and it did not help, in my opinion it hurt. These guys would know better but I would wait on that till you crack the engine and do your H/C/I.

Little, if I keep the car, yes you can cam it.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my next
Track fix.

TBone all I've done so far is a VMax TB and an ADM Race Intake (scoop) that's it for power the UDP and LT's will be on the way then a tune.

Suspension just a 1LE with CTS-V/ZL1 brake upgrade, For now...

As far as my goals long term is 500/500. I have Aero and Suspension stuff in the works...

FF,

Good choice on the LT's but the UDP is a personal choice that I would not choose. I don't think the gain is worth the loss of your accessories, if you use your AC in FL you will understand. You already gained HP by having the electric steering but again that's me. I just never liked UDP's.

The Brake upgrade is an EXCELLENT choice and one I am currently contemplating. I would also suggest Pedders bushings, minimum, and think about coilovers, optional. Since you live in a HOT state you should think about upgrading your radiator, oil cooler, trans cooler and some brake ducts.

Also, do not get hung up on HP/TQ numbers like everyone else if you are focusing on the RC stuff but more on a durable valvetrain and usable TQ to get you out of the corners. Think Brian Tooley type stuff, Goo Goo him.

With more and more folks focusing on Road Course and AutoX I kinda wish we had a section here on C5 dedicated to just that since it is kinda specialized. I am seeing more questions pop up here and there that could really populate it's own section.

T.

And since it is that time of year.....

GO HAWKS!!!!!!

They are not really worth it IMHO.

Especially of you want to get to 500, you'll need a cam and the ramp rates on the newer cams will not play well with the 1.8's because they will need more spring pressure to control the valve if not you'll have all kinds of Valve float. Just stick to our 1.7 rocker ratio with trunion and you'll get there

Well what if I run them to just get me through the next year? Then when I do my Heads/Cam/Poss. Intake I go back to the stockers with upgraded trunion bearings.

I'm just looking to get as much power as possible for right now.

I'll be selling my heads when the new ones get thrown on. The rockers will go with them...

I hope so. There are some other issues I know that the track has to or had to deal with before NHRA would go back for the National event.

You do realize you won't see 500 rwtq unless you have more cubes/compression or a VERY happy dyno right?

Well I was planning on running higher compression when the time comes to do the TFS GenX heads and everything part I pick I'm going for the ones that promote TQ example the Pfadt Tri-Y headers, and if one of these "Dual Plenum" intakes that are coming out show to be better for TQ then a FAST or Stocker that's what I will go for. Also a cam that promotes TQ will be picked and the tune will be geared for that.

If I don't hit 500/500 I want to get as close as possible... like I said it's a "goal"...

I'd prefer 475/475 over 500/450 for my use.

You'd still need better springs because those rockers will need more spring pressure, we don't want valve float.

This SLP set up has springs with titanium retainers. I find it odd though they don't include pushrods nor do they mention them in their instructions. I find that concerning. Also $1100 that is concerning... lol
